It is believed that all cancers move through stages of differentiation of the tissues. Atypical hyperplasia, meaning that the cells look abnormal and there are more of them than you would expect, is an early stage in the process. It is difficult to know how many atypical hyperplasias eventually change to become a full cancer, it is not all of them. I am sure your physician is recommending that you have regular breast exams and mammograms, which is the rational approach. Depending on other risk factors and how widespread the hyperplasia is, it is possible that a lumpectomy, removing the area of the atypical hyperplasia, would be done.

Please do not let yourself be sucked in by people trying to make a profit of your situation. These alternative therapies, like Mangosteen Juice, are nothing more than people trying to take advantage of you.

Hyperplasia means excessive or rapid growth & atypical means different than normal - so atypical hyperplasia is not necessarily cancerous. I've heard the term "hyperplasia" used for large breasted women requesting reduction surgery. I think the concern would be what kind of tissue or cells are referred to as hyperplasia and what is meant as "atypical". These are terms that your doctor will need to explain to you. They may recommend for frequent examinations if you are at risk for breast cancer and maybe a referral to a breast cancer specialist. Learn to perform BSE (breast self exams) so that you get to know what is normal for you and that way you will be able to detect any changes early on. It is good sense to take care of yourself - for you and those that care for you.
