are there (at siem reap airport) travel agencies like in thailand's airport? or should book a hotel before getting there!

since siem reap isnt a popular destination for tourists, i suggest you not to book. you should see the room before you make any kind of payments. however, it's fine if you wanna book it first, so that you wont waste your time checking out the hotels, but that hotel must be a really good hotel like Le Meridien Angkor Hotel or Raffles Grand Hotel d Angkor hotel cos their standard is already good. well, hope it helps or you can check out http://www.excelloz.com/Hotel/Search.php to see the hotel reviews.

Actually it always helps to book well in advance of your arrival there, mainly because of the cost of Hotel when you arrive(I am Owner of a Travel Agency). Some basic yet important questions come to mind:
1-Do you have a checkin/checkout date in mind?
2-Do you have a maximum per night rate you want to pay?
Minor issues for certain but important as it will simplify the process of locating Hotels near Siem Reap Airport. HECK NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't listen to any of the other answers telling you to book ahead. Siem Reap is one of the best places to find accomidation on site. Even in the highest season it is easy to find a hotel. There is a show called globe trekker on tv. They just had a show on Cambodia and I highly recommend that you watch it. It will prove to you my answer. try out www.lonelyplanet.com I am a big fan of that site and it helped me out a lot when I went there.

I'd feel safer booking before I got there. There may be some excellent agencies there, but I'd fee better knowing I have a room than taking a chance on getting one. Travel "surprises" can be more difficult when in a foreign country.

Its low season now, so planty place to stay.
From Oktober till march its Hight season without reservation you dont have place.
At the airport there are no travel agencies, you have to make a booking before I would suggest. The drivers at the airport will bring you to one but they get commission (they dont care if they have clean rooms etc).

visit http://www.goldentemplevilla.com or book for one nite with them(free airport pickup,tour arrangement n etc) then look for more choice on your own.Not to worry.plenty of hotel ,guesthouse at Siem reap
