In the Bible Jesus gives the assurance that if you believe in him you will go the heaven, to not know that you are going to Heaven sound pretty foolish to me, If I am wrong then I have had a good life I can be proud of. If I am right then I win and what does the non believer get?

For someone to claim to be a believer and not know would be foolishness. The Bible gives a very clear explanation on what is required to get into Heaven.

I don't think it is possible for anyone to know for certain whether they are going to heaven or down south. All we can do is try to behave as morally as possible and trust God to judge accordingly.

Now, yes, I do think that it is foolish for a person to SAY that they know for a fact where they are going.

That is a very debatable question, when I went to a Baptist church the pastor believed with his whole heart that he was going to Heaven, no questions asked. I now attend an Anglican/Traditional Episcopalian Church and my priest things that Heaven is something you have to work for and it is not just handed over.
I believe I have to work at it everyday, but there is evidence both ways.

yes it's foolish, because NO ONE really knows where they are going except for GOD.

you could live your life in a real good meaningful way, but its the little things that get you. If i dont make it to heaven, I pray that i go to purgatory. Because i definitely do not want to go to hell

For those truly of The Christian Faith The Promise of God in the Truth of their Salvation is all that is needed in the way of proof of their having a place in Heaven....For those of The Christian Faith, and those are all members of The Church of which Jesus The Christ is The Head, Salvation is a fact.

One of The Christian Faith can state absolutly that their Salvation is assured... if any one says they are "christian" and can not state that their Salvation is assured... They are not of The Chrictian Faith.

I will offer my testimony as my statement of Faith in my position.

No, because all of our BELIEFS should be built on a combination of FAITH and KNOWLEDGE. You have faith in the existence of God, and in his sovereignty.

After that, by genuine STUDY of the bible (God's word), you develop a KNOWLEDGE of what God himself said about it.

When you BELIEVE in God, and you KNOW what God said, you're on pretty solid ground.

You can confidently KNOW you're going to heaven because you KNOW God is real and true, and you have the KNOWLEDGE of the requirements for eternal life.

Just get the facts from your bible. If you're trying to EARN your way into heaven, then you can know that you WON'T succeed.

Not going.
Seeing loved ones pass away and not believing you will see them- that is foolish to me.

I've heard that the pursuit of pleasure is a straight arrow to hell. I can not help but correlate this with 'the pursuit of happiness'. Each of us inherently knows if what we are doing is right or wrong, it's just a matter of whether we choose to ignore that or listen.

It is normal for our faith to grow as we get older. Since you are concerned whether or not you have faith, that is evidence that you do have faith. If you did not have faith you would not care. If you believe these wonderful words of love, then you have saving faith.

John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
