I am in Cincinnati. Go to the sheriff's office on Hamilton Ave. and get a packet. Complete it and take a class. There is a great one offered down around Miamitown.

I live in California, and I have been told by cops, DO NOT get a ccw permit. You will be constantly harassed. In California, we don't need a license to own a gun, per se. We are supposed to register our guns, which is done by the gun dealer where they are purchased. I have had two guns confiscated from me by cops, and neither time did they ask if I had a license to own them, just asked me if they were registered to me. (One was, one wasn't). I later got both guns back.To get a ccw permit, you would go to your local police dept. or Sheriff dept. They will be able to tell you if you need a license to own a gun, also. You should be able to find out this info over the phone very quickly.

State law does not require a license to OWN a gun. If you need a 'Concealed Handgun License', apply at the County Sheriff's office in you county of residence or an adjoining county. You will have to take an approved course on gun safety and concealed weapons law. The sheriff doe not offer the course, but most gun shops do.

Without getting into a 2nd Ammendment debate, state laws vary. I would suggest trying the National Rifle Association's Website, or perhaps Gunowners of America Website. If you find nothing online, the next time you're at the grocery store or large retail store (i.e., Wal-mart, Target, etc.) look in the magazine section for Guns and Ammo Magazine (really any firearms magazine should do). Towards the last few pages should be an advertisement and classified section. You can usually find contacts for concealed carry classes and permits in these sections.

First you don't need a license to own a gun, but now if you want to carry on that is differnt. You can find out where the classes are from any gun shop most likely.

Check with your local Sheriff's office. They are usually the ones mandated to deal with CCW laws.

Don't know about Ohio, but in Indiana, if you live in the city, you go to the local police dept, if you live in the country, you go to the sheriff's dept. No matter where you go you still get your prints ran thru the state police (in Indiana)

Glad you included the state in your question. All states are different on the rules. For a quick study on CCW in ALL 50 states You should vist http://www.packing.org. They have a great deal of info to all shooters on this issue and how to stay out of trouble.
Now for OHIO:You may apply for a license, at your county Sheriff's office or the Sheriff of any county adjacent to yours. You will need to apply in person, submit an application provided by the Sheriff free of charge, provide a photo taken within the past 30 days, (Some Sheriffs want a Passport type photo) an original or photocopy of a certificate of completion of a firearm safety class indicate that you did read and review the state's pamphlet on deadly force, and pay a fee. You will be required to provide your fingerprints through an electronic device, unless your Sheriff does not have an electronic fingerprinting device. (Then you'll be printed by card). The Sheriff has 45 days to issue or deny your license, by law.
Emergency licenses will become available at the same time as regular licenses and will require proof that justifies an emergency license.
You will need to:
*Submit an application (provided by the Sheriff free of charge)
*Provide a photo taken within 30 days of applying
*Submit an original or photocopy of a certificate of completion of a firearm safety class
*Read the state's pamphlet on deadly force (provided)
*Provide fingerprints to be taken by the Sheriff's office equipment
Notes:
*Initial training must be less than three years old
*Renewal training must be within the last six years
*The color photo (front view, head and shoulders, substantially similar to a 2-inch-by-2- inch passport photo) taken within 30 days of the application date accompany the completed application.
Ohio's license to carry a concealed handgun is effective for four years from the date it is issued. The training requirement must be met every six years, or every other time you renew your license.
One little note for Cincinnati!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
