If so, what should be the punishment for the teachers who do it if our laws were actually based on the bible?

NO, it has been argued that forcing children to go to church and teaching them about religion is child abuse.

Snowey, you have fallen for the trash that these people have been pushing! Evolution is a theory just as gravity is a theory. Theory in the scientific sense is NOT the same as theory is defined by the public.

None of it is child abuse. If you teach your child creationism or evolution it is just simply teaching your child how humans might have formed. No human origin story is factual because there is still much research that has to be done on the subjects. Here is how I see it. Learn them both and then create your own theory.

Filling children's head with a lot of idiotic quasi-Christian nonsense is the real child abuse. Who is to say that evolution isn't God's tool shed? People that turn their back on science and reality should be precluded from bearing children in the first place.

No. Things do evolve. However, did we evolve from the apes? If so, why aren't more coming out of the jungle. Where are the transitional skeletons?
Did we evolve from mud? Our livers are so complex, scientist and engineers can not build a plant to do what our livers can do.
Was it the Big Bang theory- Yes, things always appear from nothing....
We were wonderfully and fearfully made, by a Creator. Intelligent design I think they call the newest explanation now. And it was intelligent- pity we all aren't.

Of course it's not Child abuse. NOT teaching them about it would be! There is so much in the bible that can't be proven. A lot of evolution can be. I guess it depends on your culture and religion...some religions will burn you alive, if you have a single thought of your own!

No it is not child abuse. That is a ridiculous notion. It is not different them teaching them algebra, economics, history et al. It is an evidence-based scientific biological theory.

To label it child abuse is merely a politcal move by religious groups to demonize the theory because it does not fit with their ideology.

Of course it is not. It's really the same as "teaching biology to children".

Re. the second half of your question, our laws are not based on the Bible except in the very general way that law is based in the history of laws and government.

We unfortunately have a very active anti-American movement here in the U.S. pushing to have us say that our law is based in religion, and often in some particular religion. In fact it's quite the opposite. Our system of law explicitly derives its power from the consent of the governed. This is a core democratic principle, one that cannot be discarded without discarding the very core value of the United States.

When politicians attempt to enshrine in law the contradictory notion that the power is derived from a god those politicians are committing acts of treason.

Indoctrinating our children with the hoax of evolution, telling them we came from nothing, have no intrinsic purpose to our lives, are answerable to no one, can make up their own rules and morals and when they die they simply turn to worm food, is a form of abuse in that it tells them a lie about themselves and the world around them. It tells them they are nothing more than evolved animals, and when they act that way, we punish them for it. Simple solution for this, either remove it completely, or teach it side by side with creation, two philosophies, two ways of viewing the world. Let the kids decide which makes the most sense.

Dear god no! The theory of evolution is not religion. It is just that. A theory. So it can be taught in schools. If you dont want your child to learn about the theory of evolution, send him or her to a catholic or christian private school or something.

Teachers shouldnt be punished because that is what they are told to teach. Its not like they say, "hey I feel like corrupting my students today by teaching them swear words and that killing is good." Its just there jobs to follow their lesson plans and to teach what is requred for that grade level.

I don't believe in evolution! I did not evolve from a monkey. If any human did evolve from a monkey then there wouldn't be any monkeys today. If something evolves into another form then the form that they evolved from would no longer exist. There are still monkey and that proof that man did not come from a monkey. Evolution...huh! Maybe they should teach my theory instead.
