How would a highly religious person react if a person stated he's not interested to be religious and prefer not to go to church? Do certain types of religions have something to do with this?

you should read a couple of my questions about being pestered by a religious friend!! basically she is a loyal southern baptist christian and i am just myself, agnostic if you will. and i think she thinks i need saving and that my life is a little sad and empty and that i am not making a place for my children in heaven but rather in hell and that i've allowed the devil in my life, etc......in a nut shell she can't stand it. we CANNOT talk about religion. it just gets ugly. i can accept her for what she believes but she can't accept me.

A highly religious person would say that non was lost... or a devil worshipper (funny how these terms always apply to everyone else... the religious are never lost ^_^)
Sometimes a religion may have something to do with it. Usually, though, it's the followers who justify treating people like crap that are the cause.

Well, the religious types see the non-religious types as challenges to be converted. After all, the religious people get heaven points for each person converted to their particular point of view. The safest thing to do for a non-religious person is to avoid the religious fanatics, unless of course, they want a source of annoyance or amusement. Religious people are so easy to frustrate. It's such fun to drive them right up the wall by questioning their beliefs. In the end, they all come to the same defense argument - you just have to have faith.

---top-down is wrong. I am a "religious" person and would not come down to the argument "you just have to have faith."
---Every religious person would react differently if told by another person that they are not instersted to be religious. I can tell you how we should react. We should be loving. We should feel sorry for the person who isn't interested, because that person needs to believe in Jesus to go to heaven. We should not get angry at the person, unless the person just doesn't want to be religious so that they can do bad things and not care if they do. Then it may do that other person some good to get mad at them.

Is anyone truly "non-religious"? Isn't a person's religion just those beliefs that he/she has that answer the deepest questions of life- "How did we get here and why?" Atheists and agnostics believe that all is random, and, therefore meaningless.

As a Christian, I believe that there is absolute truth, and that this truth comes from the God of the Jews who has reavealed Himself to the whole world through Jesus Christ. Now I am someone who thinks very deeply about things, so I did not come to these conlusions lightly. Before, when I was an agnostic, I also didn't like Christians trying to share with me about Jesus.

Now about this "witnessing"- I'm into vitamins and I found that iodine helped me get over being cold all the time and greatly helped me with my low energy level. Now if I know someone with these same symptoms, is it ok for me to share this? But, what if they had a bad experience with vitamins and they hate taking vitamins or medicine- is it still ok to share even though they might get a little annoyed at me and not take my advice?

That is the debate that we as Christians have going on in our heads when it comes to witnessing to someone about Jesus. Our purpose is not to offend or disrespect, but. the truth is, we have something that we sincerely believe you (we all) need more than anything else in the world. And the Bible- especially the words of Jesus instruct us to share this good news with the world.

Now, when we do not share in a humble and loving manner, it is a real shame, b/c we are then not modeling to you the real Jesus. Think about it: Our religion says that God humbled Himself to come to earth as the weakest of creatures- a little baby. And He lived His life serving and healing. And, he died on the cross to take away the sins of the world and to reconcile us to the Father. How much more humble can you get? He tells us to "take up your cross and follow me". And, at the foot of the cross, we are all at the same level- there is no room for self-righeousness- b/c we are unable to save ouselves. Jesus saves us and we become "righteous" only b/c God places the "righteousness" of Christ upon us.

I am pretty religious but many of my friends don't go to church and aren't religious. I don't think that anything is wrong with that. Religion is a tool to help you get closer to God, some times personal study works best. They are still great people. Besides I believe it is not my place to judge.

I don't care what they think and they shouldn't care about what I think, do or don't do - its none of their business. Everyone is different so there would be several different reactions.
