I'd like to focus on the most beautiful scenes in that movie.
I loved the one where Mary was watching Jesus fall, and she flashed back to a time when He was just learning to walk. He cried out to her, and she ran to comfort him. That was so beautiful it made me cry.
There has been so much talk about the violence and the suffering!
I closed my eyes during some of that, not wanting to see Jesus (or anyone) suffer so much... and not wanting to see how cruel some humans can be.
But there has been too little attention on the beauty of His love.... and how he willingly gave His life for us.
If you are not Christian, but you saw the movie... please feel free to comment. But this question is not saying you should believe. You are free to think what you want, it won't hurt my feelings. Even if you don't think Jesus is the Son of God, you have to admit He was an amazing human being.
Let's talk only about the most beautiful scenes, just for now.

Thank you for the positive answers, or at least the ones who aren't bashing me. Not that it really matters if some people don't understand, but it's nice to get positive feedback.
Special thanks to Joa5 for an intelligent and kind response from a non-Christian.
Special thanks to IN Atlanta, nancyjo, and DougLawrence for contributing to the theme of the question by sharing positive, loving moments in the film.
YippyYahQQ... you're welcome.
Lana S... I forgive you for being petty and using this as an opportunity to push your opinions on the rest of us. Please remember that short answers actually get read, so probably nobody, including me, actually read ALL of what you wrote.
If anybody wants to read an absolutely beautiful review about this film, written by a non-Catholic (since this seems to be about who we are, unfortunately).. read this:

Blessings to all of you.

The love and passion of Jesus Christ shines through the entire film. As Jesus watches a carpenter, he recalls crafting furniture, and living in peace & harmony with His Mother. The Sermon on the Mount scene tells us, "If you only love those who love you, what reward is in that?"
A glimpse of Pilate’s water bowl launches a memory of the Lord washing his disciples’ feet in the upper room.
As nails penetrate Christ’s palms, the film cuts back to Jesus saying, “I am the way, the truth and the life.” Then there’s the flash from the removal of Christ’s robe at Golgotha to the unwrapping of the bread during the Last Supper. “This is my body, which is broken for you." When Mary is given towels and lovingly wipes Jesus' blood from the floor, she shows that His blood is sacred.
"Behold, I make all things new." summarizes the thrust of the entire film.
The prevailing tone is one of respect and adoration for Jesus Christ.

Yes, Mia, I remember that part. I cried there too. That was when Jesus fell under His cross and it reminded her of Him falling down and crying as a child. But then, remember this part? She rushed over to Him as He struggled to get up, all broken and bleeding and He looked her straight in the eye and said, "Behold.......I make all things new."
I think that movie was wonderful. I bought it, but I can't watch it again. Maybe someday. Thanks for the memory, and don't pay any attention to the haters on here. They just can't understand.
"They know not what they do."

Obviously, some of our fellow posters are real Yahoos!
I particularly like the scene when Longinus, the Roman soldier who thrust the spear into Jesus, and the first human to be literally "washed" with Christ's blood, spontaneously fell to his knees and worshipped him.
Longinus later converted, and became a saint. There's a church in Italy named after him, and a very interesting miracle of the holy Eucharist occurred there, too.
I also like the way they did the resurrection scene, especially the choice of background music.
Anyone who liked the movie should read the book, "The Delorous Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ" by the Blessed Sister Anne Catherine Emmerich, which served as the basis for the movie script.
I have the entire book in PDF format available on CD. If you would like a copy, just email an address to me.

That is Blasphamy! You are just trying to win gods favor and be saved! What gives you the right to promote God Love when you have never held nor seen God nor has he you-you think that because you say such a sweet and endearing thing that oh heaven is waiting for me-so beg GOD to take you now because your attitude is killing YOUR MOTHER EARTH!
I Think and so "I Am"-God says "I Am"-Is it possible he said this without Thinking?
I don't know where exactly the quote comes from but I do know that many of us have heard "I Think & so I Am"-many say-"We have been given a choice"-I would like to know one person that can show me that they chose to enter Life-I know I came here representing my parents love for one another and their hope that I would be an expression of that LOVE and too, that I could enjoy the Joy of being in Love like they have found-They were not religious although we celebrated all the Christian religious Holidays-My father was Atheist and always referred to his 5 senses to explain everything-He was very capable and The Navy rewarded him its highest medal for officers ("Naval Accomadation" and he was and remains the only Commander to ever receive this citation)-as we travled the world I saw that any work from any religion was created magnificently to please A God(s)-Some believe God Inspires-So why would John condemn it all in Revelations-His book not Jesus'-and Christians believe this-GoodbyeEarth in Revelations-What a CROCK!
The fact of the matter is Christians believe that there is a better place called heaven and I believe that this is it-and I work hard to make this world a better place-but I do not see THEM sacrificing their lives here to do so-How can we survive with this IT IS ALL GOING TO END attitude? It just will becaome an obstical to trying to save Mother Earth because They believe she is done for based on THIS TEXT ALONE and then because they see it happen believe it is so and so do nothing to appease or saccrifice their comfort here-Please wake up and smell the DESTRUCTION! Jesus is responsible for THE MURDER OF MOTHER EARTH him and his gang of Saviors and disciples much like Muhammad and Zues and Jupiter! All frauds and they sholud be condemened and ihnillated! This is the truth heaven has been pierced by our rockets and we have gone beyond this-Its Heaven here or Nowhere so don't mind me if your ignorance caused me to raise a lil HELL!

The Passion was fiction, based on a nun's visions. It was a terrible film.
When will Mel Gibson make a movie about the tens of thousands of people who were imprisoned, heinously tortured and murdered by Christians during the Inquisition and Crusades? Many suffered horribly *for years*, far beyond anything depicted in the PoC film.

Yes, I completely agree with you on all points.
I am not Christian, but I think Jesus was an amazing individual and I try to live my life the way he did.
I caught the tail-end of this movie and I cried and cried. Just thinking about the torture he went through makes me emotional. And yes, that scene between his mother and himself was very beautiful. I can't imagine what emotional torture his mother must have been under.
He was truly a great person.

As bad as those scenes were that showed the blood and pain, in reality it was a hundred times worse. I was shot and went through some agonizing pains and thought about Jesus love for me through it all. I would not have had the love that He had and mankind would be doomed. But thank God, Jesus was the one that bore it all and we can be saved if we but choose to serve Him, the One that loved beyone measure.

When He held out His beautiful hand to Mary on the ground, I thought for sure my heart would stop. His hand in her's reminded me of all the times He would stop and heal someone. Or when the leper asked Him, If you will... and Jesus, our precious Lord and Saviour said, I will.
He is all that is good and Holy and I just wish everyone could see His mercy and love.

I do especially the one where they beat the hell out of jesus. That was real touching to me. I mean I know he deserved it but why show so much trauma to one man in one movie. I guess the only negative thing is he was not strong enough to stand up for himself. Poor guy. Got what he deserved.
But they say they are making a sequel. Its called Jesus the rhesus (generic name implying monkey)

let's talk about the fact that mel gibson took many liberties with the bible when making that movie (devil in the garden at the beginning, devil with mutated child at some point....) as far as how willingly he gave his life to us, first of all didn't he ask why god had forsaken him as he was about to die? second, if heaven is perfect then how is being crucified such a huge sacrifice?

For me....I do just like the poem. for me sound goth or darkish and I do not most commonly see that for your poems. Don't get me incorrect is solely that does not sound such as you.....incidentally do not get the whole thing that they are saying the incorrect manner, they're expression themselves and do not be so rough to your self....... Good Luck
