Car was just recently vandalized (scratches on every panel down to the primer $5000.00 damage), so I decided to change up it's look since the whole car had to be repainted.

I work in a paint shop.. To paint an entire car with flip flop colors is going to be spendy. And Gaudy. but so far Dupont is about the best out there , and it depends on if you want a 5 color flip or a 3 color flip.. etc.. there is alot of options out there,
Average cost of just the paint is about 600 bucks a quart and for a mid sized car like a mustang you will need about 3-4 quarts.
and you have to paint the car black first or the colors won't show up very well. so Honestly do have it done right you are looking at about 5k. I might recomend instead painting the car a color you realy like and using the Flip-flop colors as an accent. Maybe stripes ,flames .scallops or what have you.. much less expensive and will look better than a complete flip paint Job.

The paint itself can cost beyond $1000 a gallon. It really depends on what you want to paint to do. Purple to green will be cheaper than purple to blue, yellow, orange, red, green. There's a number of brands out there from BASF to PPG and House of Kolor. Instead of the typical prep, primer, color and clear, chamillion goes prep, primer, base, chamillion, top, and clear (something close to that). Prep is the most important part or course, and prep goes the same both ways. Chamillion is a little more tricky to lay does, mostly to getting the particles to lay down consistantly. A significant of the costs will come from the paint.

You can actually find out how much it truly costs. Just go to google or yahoo and type in price of mysichrome paint Ford. Im pretty sure its not called chamelion. I worked for a paint shop and if its a ford liscenced color its called mystichrome, and its usually about 80 bucks a pint. Find a shop that actually gets its formulas from ford, or it wont come out properly.

I have seen more than enough Mustangs painted with heavy 'flop' finishes -- trust me, it looks like $hit. These finishes are out of favor for good reason, it looks like crap vs 'normal' two stage finishes. For five large you can change color and get a total refinish with some to spare. Red, yellow and black are always good but how about light silver lower with black or dark gray metalic upper?
My GT is finished with single stage red with black upper -- clear coat over entire finish. It looks way cool.
