Coca Cola Zero - Sweetened with aspartame and acesulfame potassium., the reason this is different than Diet Coke is Coca Cola Zero is a sugar free version of the Classic Coke formulation. In other words, this is meant to be a sugar free version of the red cans of Coke you know and may or may not love. It has a redder, deeper color close to the color of Classic Coke and tastes far less like a diet soda (by many accounts) than Diet Coke.

Diet Coke - Although it came out two years before “New” coke, diet coke that we’ve enjoyed since the 80s is the sugar free form of new coke. In other words, it’s based on the formula for the “New Coke” that wasn’t released yet (it debuted in 1985) when Diet Coke hit the market (1983), and is also now no longer available. (the New coke). Coca Cola has no plans at this time to discontinue the aspartame based Diet Coke, as it is third in the soda market. (After Coke and Pepsi, respectively.)

When I tried Coke Zero it reminded me of classic Coca Cola. Not at all like the taste of diet Coke.

I could tell the difference, I can tell the difference between diet coke and the caffeine free version too, I prefer the caffeine free version & to be honest I hate the zero version it tasted like a cheap non brand diet coke.
I was really disappointed with the diet cherry coke too I wish it was the same cherry as in sugar cherry coke but they had to ruin it and use black cherry instead

I tried a can of the stuff the other day and I must admit on single tasting, it did remind me of normal Coke, and it didn't have a nasty sweetner "bite". Then the wife went and bought a bottle of the stuff and I thought - Diet Coke! Complete with the sickening aspartame taste.

SALES GIMMICK!

They both taste rubbish to me, as does any other type of diet soda. Personally I would not touch the stuff with a barge pole.

Some recent research has actually suggested that the regular, sugary stuff is actually better for you if taken in moderation. This is because the diet stuff contains aspartame and sorbitol which are now thought to be carcinogenic.

Yes - Coke Zero tastes like Pepsi. In fact, it tastes remarkably like 80s throwback Pepsi Free, which died. Horrifically.
