How do you put chopsticks in your hair?

I can never get the technique down. How do you put your hair up in chopsticks/pencils/ any other straight object?

This depends on the length and thickness of your hair, but chopsticks best work with thin and long [a 5 or 6 inches below the shoulder ] or thick and long [3 or 4 inches below the shoulder ]. You could also braid it and put it into a bun using the chopsticks to hold it, and that all depends on where the bun is. How you put your hair up is dependant on you, but how i usually do it is to twist my hair clockwise, until it's almost like a rope, or until it starts curving around the start of the twist, then i take the chopstick, and continue to motion my hair [along with the chopstick ] clockwise, then once it's in a tight bun, i slide the chopstick in a place where i feel that it has support and the bun won't fall apart in 2 minutes. There are other ways to do it though. You could also tie your hair in a ponytail before you start twisting it, this way is a more secure way if you don't want to worry about the bun falling apart. You could also, as i said before, braid your hair and twist it into a bun, and use the chopstick to secure it. That is a bit harder to make look nice, since you also have to get the direction of the braid in the same direction as you are twisting it, so the hair does not look strained or odd.

Step 1 - Position the chopsticks
Place the first chopstick so that thicker part rests at the base of your thumb and the thinner part rests on the lower side of your middle fingertip.


Bring your thumb forward so that it traps the stick firmly in place. At least two or three inches of chopstick should extend beyond your fingertip.


Now position the other chopstick so that it is held against the side of your index finger by the end of your thumb. (As if you were holding a pencil)


Press the ends of both sticks on the plate, while holding them at a slight angle to the table. Allow them to slide just a little so that the ends line up.








Step 2 - Pivot the top chopstick
Place a little pressure on the top chopstick. It will pivot on your index finger and thumb. Remember: the bottom chopstick is stationary. Your thumb will stay fairly stationary, while the index and middle fingers are used to move the top chopstick.
The tip of the top chopstick will move towards the tip of the bottom chopstick. Encourage this. Hold those tips together firmly enough to grasp a piece of food and lift it off the plate. Place delicately into your waiting mouth. Although there's no need to stoop, you may wish to lean over your plate a bit during your first attempts. It might save you a clean-up.
That's about it. Have a little practice, use mini-marshmallows or some other small food items, and you'll be able to use chopsticks with the best of 'em.

put your hair up and twist it and then curl it togheter

You make a X with the 2 chopsticks/pencils/pens

First have you hair in a ponny-tail. Then curl it to make a bun. Tie it down tight with a band or whatever, and place the chopstick or whatever BEHIND the ponny-tail band. This way it'll be tight and wont fall out.

make sure ur hair is long enough (it obviously wouldn't work on very short hair)

the trick is where u stick it and how u weave it through ur hair... practice makes perfect... but be careful not to weave it too much cuz the sticks might break (like mine did when i first got them)

Usually you have to have a bun or a half-bun, then insert the sticks into the bun.
