What do you mean by dating ? There are so many different ideas of what dating is. By my standards, a ' group date ' or ' doubles ' is fine. Two or more couples going somewhere ( movies, video, eating ) is fine. Going steady is not. Two people who agree to be mutually exclusive for each other.
As for why 12/13 is too young for dating is that dating has connotations ( ideas ) of joining your life with another person. You need to develop your own personality before you start linking it with someone else. Sometimes 20 isn't even old enough to say that you are ready to settle down with one person at a time.

I was allowed to date whenever i wanted to. I think I was like 8 when I went to the movies with a boy for the first time. His father came too and sat a few rows over. My parents were never the type to say I had to be like 16 or anything. As long as you understand its not likely the person you will spend the rest of your life with and at 12/13 understand the importance of safe sex. (yes, kids start young these days) then it shouldnt be a problem. there are far worse things out there then dating.

Hi,
I am 63 yrs old now but I went on my first real date when I was 13 and she was 12. Both our parents knew about it and knew exactly where we were going and how long we would be gone.
I took her to a movie that we walked to and after the show we went to a ice cream parlor. I then walked her home and all this was in the daytime.
I say, to answerer your question, it is OK if your parents agree and know exactly where you are at all times.
By the way, it was about two years later before I dated anyone again but I will never forget that first time.
Good luck

I was having sex in middle school and so were a lot of people I knew so to say that is stupid. I think 15 maybe 16 is old enough. Why rush it? It's a long road of hassles and disappointments anyway.

You are a child, that's why. The only thing that can come of "dating" at the age of twelve or thirteen is problems. Serious problems, too, like illness, teen pregnancy, etc. Believe me, as someone who has been there, even if you think you are mature enough, you are throwing away your precious childhood. This is something you can never get back. May God bless and keep you.

with the aid of fact once you're 12 and 13 you fairly have no thought what relationship is fairly approximately. Your unlikely to have a intense relationship at that youthful of an age, and because specially at 13 years previous, youthful adult adult males have extra desirable testosterone, and all theyre involved in is intercourse. So relationship at your age is ineffective and has alot of destructive aspects. additionally once you date in midsection college, even however you would be in 8th grade, and on the proper of the grades, relationship finally ends up in no longer something yet drama at that age. Its no longer continually your fault the two, once you're relationship some one that yet another female likes she might get mad and unfold rumors approximately "How he cheated on you" or crap like that, then it finally ends up in a break up. And a real relationship isnt 'Texting eachother each night'. a real one is taking/ getting taken out to a great dinner, traveling eachothers homestead as quickly as a week, going to the action pictures, walks interior the park, ect ect. and that i be responsive to as an 8th grader, you maximum probably arent in a position to try this.

Many people don't realize that age and numbers for anything at all are like shoes. Sometimes your shoe size doesn't fit. A smaller size might or bigger. It's not the size that counts, it's the type. Everyone is different like shoes. Age is nothing but a number. The maturity that counts. At least it should.

your too young, and if you get your heart broken you might don't know how to handle it. just finish being a kid and have fun instead of worry about boys right now. I'm not saying your too young to talk to guys, but don't get too serious with them and most importantly you should know your not ready to have sex with these guys either.

Nah. No offense, but I don't think that ANYthing below about 16 or so is mature enough, no matter what they say. People are never as wise as they think.
