This has worked for me without anyone ever finding my stash:
Put it in the hem of a dress or the cuffs or collar of a shirt you will not wear again. Cut a slit in the hem or cuff and smooth out the dollars, fold in two lengthwise and stuff in. Then hang the garment back in the closet with the money against the wall.

outside of buying a wall safe which you can get for under 40.00 and hang a picture over it. otherwise, any half-*** thief if you excuse the expression will look under lamps, t.v.'s, closets, jeweler boxes and such. if someone wants to steal it, they want to get in and out. you want it to be hard to find and look obvious but not where it could be. i have put money, large bills in picture frames, inside cammera's that are somewhat cheap, but don't work. old 35mm film containers that i take the bad film and open the top, taking out the old film. put the large bills in where the film used to be and recap it putting it in the container again. it will look like film not used or just hasn't been taken in yet. take a piece of string about ten inches long. take your outlet or lightswitch plate off. roll the bills up and tie the string tight around them. tape the other end to the left or right side of the plate. drop the money with the string into the outlet not touching the nuts on the side as there is alot of room. put the plate back on and anytime you need money, take the plate off and pull the pull up with the string.

In a box with a combination, in a secret compartment in your bed or desk, or in a book are good places to hide stuff. Regarding money, can you get an account at a credit union? Usually they only require a $5 minimum to keep the account active and the money is accessible only by you.
Hope this helps!

Where ever you put it ... If someone wants money they will find it, your best getting a money belt that fits next to your skin and keeping it with you or put it in a bank, building society or post office. Do not leave it in your room.

Your room is not a very good place to store MONEY. You should open an ch/sav acct, then your money would draw INTEREST, buy sav bonds, someone finds CASH they will spent, do not trust your own blood family! The bank is much safer than your room!

here is what i do, pin it to the inside of your curtains, then pull the curtains over so that they are pleated and you can't tell from looking at them that anything is there. OR put into the bottom part of deodorant tube, just turn deodorant all the way up, put money under the plastic part and screw back down so that deodorant looks normal again. works like a charm.

I put my dollar bills into an envelope, take a drawer out of my dresser, and then tape the envelope to the exterior bottom of the drawer. Of course there's always hidden compartments in fake books too.

Just don't put it inside something that can be burned neither inside something that can be taken. Someone mentioned a deodorant recipient but, what if it's taken by somebody?
