If god existed then heaven and hell shouldn't. If we are able to exist forever then it would be scary. Have you ever thought how boring things would get? An eternity... Never able to rest. Scares me a little.
We'd get sick of everything...

God would not make an afterlife and bore us for eternity

I agree, I don't think God would bore us for eternity. In fact, I believe that we won't even be in heaven for that long. I mean God made humans to rule earth over the animals and such etc, back to adam and eve, his ideal plan was to have them eat from the tree of life, and have eternal life in harmony with him. So, anyway I believe that like the bible says, there will be a new jeruselem, and a new world for us to live in, only without all the evil, and it won't be boring.

I always kind of wondered this too. Even if you did all your favorite activities, forever is a REALLY long time. After much searching I think I found a reasonable answer but I'm not going to say its perfect or correct.

Heaven is closeness to God. Supposedly that closeness feels good. If it feels good, then you are happy. If you are happy, then you can't be bored.

I think it is the most reasonable argument I've heard to far on the subject however I do have a small problem with it because it likens God to a drug. Kind of a "Just take this pill and you can sit around and do nothing but still feel good" type of philosophy.

I know Saint Augustine wrote alot about this very question so I suggest you check out "The Confessions of Saint Augustine" if you want to hear more.

LOL. Actually, God has thought of that, and YOU DON'T have IMMORTALITY, but Eternal LIFE, big difference. Immortality means "having life within yourself." Or NEEDING NOTHING to live. NOTHING. No food, air, water, heat, you could literally sit in the center of the sun, and no big whoop!

However, with Eternal Life, you need air, water, heat, and all the "normal" things we take for granted to stay alive. God simply will keep you YOUNG and ALIVE forever. FOREVER. I think of it as a chance to spend eternity in COLLEGE, LOL. In other words, what would you be able to learn in all that time? Wow, what a gift that would be! Bored? Who would have the time, sure you would need a few decades off now and then to write books and catch up on your other things, but wow . . .

Revelations talks about the believers entering into heaven and describes Jesus as declaring to them " to enter into your rest". If creation reflects the glory of God, if those that have a relationship with Jesus know true happiness, peace and joy and heaven is a place were there is no sin, no pain and in the very presence of God then boring is not an aspect of heaven that will be a concern. If you like it on earth apart from sin, you'll love it in heaven.

If you believe in reincarnation, then do you remember your past life? And for that matter, what factor would be a consistency in this "infinite life?" If you're not sick of an eternal life yet, then you will never be. And if your talking about an eternal Christian heaven, well that concept is just ridiculous on every level.

This world is boring, yes. There is a lot of work to do. Only Sundays for rest! Eternity will be fulfilling. All your worries, imperfections, short comings will disappear. Perfect understanding and a future full of creativity are available for those who trust in God.

I don't think you understand...

1. Immortals don't need rest - even if they do what makes you think they won't be able to?
2. It will only be boring in hell not heaven
3. We all have immortal souls that will live somewhere forever
4. In heaven people will be perfect and won't get bored

In spiritual matters we think correctly only when we boldly rule out the concept of space. God is spirit, and spirit dwells not in space. Space has to do with matter and spirit is independent of it. We should never think of God as being spatially near or remote. God is infinite and in His infinitude He swallows up all space.

God is not contained: He contains (Holy Bible)

First you have to understand the above concept. Then only you can understand about eternal life

But people are like little ants living in an anthill under pebbles on the beach, thinking that the ants, the anthill, the pebbles and a few yards of sand are the sum total of everything there is to know. ... My view as a Reincarnationist.

Apperantly you have little confidence of how much there is to know. And just how impossble it is to know all of it.

Maybe as someone who would think of "stuff" to do being limited to this earth youd could say that but theres something abundantly clear that there more to this universe then what your mortal consence is aware.
