Congratulations on wanting to change your life!

Acts 2:38 - "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. "

The first step to obtaining salvation is to repent. You must apologize for your sins, and ask God for forgiveness. It takes sincerity. You must mean it. And you must be truly ready in your heart to turn away from the world. Also, have faith that ALL of God's word is right. He obviously wants to do something with you else you wouldn't want this change.

But, because you can't stop at step 1.. I'll just give you the rest...

Next you must be baptized in Jesus' name for the remission of sin. This is the cleansing process. Even Jesus himself was baptized. Not because he had to be cleansed.. but because he was our example.

Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. This is when you allow God to come into your body. And His Spirit begins to dwell with you. Many people do not believe in this, but as someone who has experienced it, I can tell you, it's the best feeling in the world.

There are people who believe that you only need to "confess with your mouth and believe in your heart."

Romans 10:9 - "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."

That scripture is saying that if you believe that God raised Jesus from the dead, then you have faith, and through your faith you can obtain salvation. But the Bible also says:

Matthew 7:21 - "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. "

This is how we know that simply confessing that we believe in Jesus is not enough. We must receive the keeping power he has provided us with. We do this through receiving the Holy Ghost.

Acts 1:8 - "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth."

But to obtain salvation, we must follow the commandments laid out in Acts 2:38.

One thing I say, and this is for anything in your life. If you don't believe or you have doubts.. always research it for yourself. Ask God to open up your understanding. Have a receptive heart and He will lead you to the truth. If you have questions feel free to contact me! God Bless!!!!

Best Wishes!

You just did it! Admitting that you want Jesus in your life is the start of your journey. Go to him BOLDLY and tell him that you want him in your life and that you don't know him yet but that you want to. Ask him to guide you and he will. Ask him to pray for you!

It will be difficult at first to know when God speaks to you. Think of it this way! As an infant, you had to over time, mature into the person you are today. The same goes when you finally accept Jesus. You are a baby christian! This is really when the battle begins for your soul. That may sound crazy, but the way you react and handle things in your life from now on is the battle. Sometimes its hard to be strong, have faith and let God handle things. You may fall a couple times, but as long as you get up and trust in God, your faith will grow as your relationship with Jesus grows. And you will be blessed...I can Testify to that.

I am attaching some links for you. Joyce Meyer Ministries and Through the Bible Network are excellent places for you to start your journey. You can even view their broadcasts from tv or radio. Also, look into the churches in your area and find a church you feel good in.

After Jesus rose from the dead, he gave commandments about salvation. He said "He that believes and is Baptized shall be saved." (Mark 16:16)

He told the apostles "And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem." (Luke 24:47)

In Acts 2, we see beginning in Jerusalem, preaching to men from all nations, the apostles taught "Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins." (Verse 38). This is exactly as Christ had instructed.

Lets look closely at the plan those converts in Acts 2 followed.

First, they heard the word of God. Peter told them "hearken to my words" (verse 14) and "hear these words" (verse 22). Later in verse 37 it says "Now when they heard this..."

They believed. Peter told them, "let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made the same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ" (verse 36). This is something they needed to come to know or believe.

They confessed. There is not a "formal confession" recorded here, but in verse 37 there is a verbal response that makes it clear that they believed. Romans 10:10 says "With the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

They repented of their sins. This can be seen in the direct command in verse 38, and the change in their attitude and behavior in several verses toward the end of the chapter.

They were baptized "in the name of Christ" "for the remission of sins" (verse 38). "In the name of" means according to the authority of. Jesus had commanded "He that believes and is baptized shall be saved." To follow Christ's authority, you must follow his instructions.

At this point, the Lord added them to the church, the body of saved people (Verse 42, and 47) They continued to remain faithful, to have fellowship, and to follow the things the apostles taught them. (Verses 42-47) They also continued in unity, teaching and believing the same things (see also 1 Cor 1:10).

To review, those in Acts 2 followed this plan to become a Christian.
Hear - Believe - Repent - Confess - and be Baptized.

This places you "into Christ" (Romans 6:3-4, Gal. 3:27)

Then you should live a faithful life. (Rev 2:10)

This is the plan every example of conversion in Acts shows. This is how the first converts in Acts 2 became Christians (Saved followers of Christ).

If you want to become what they became, you should do what they did.

be baptized and put your trust in Jesus that he has paid for your sins. Thats it. You should hear the word regularly to feed your faith. definitely read the Bible. the NIV is a great translation.

Mar 16:16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.

You should find a church that teaches the Word of God without adding or subtracting from it.. Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod churches do this well.

1. Admit that you are a sinner
The Bible says that all have sinned and fallen short of God's
standard.

2. Ask Jesus to forgive you for all your wrong doing.

3. Repent, (turn away) from everything you know to be wrong.

4. Ask Jesus to cleanse your heart from sin.

5. Ask Jesus to be the master of your life from now on.

This is how you begin to have a relationship with Him.

This is called 'being born again'.

Romans 10:8-11 , 17 . You have to believe in your heart and mind . Go to a nondenominational Church that teaches directly from the Scriptures and keeps by them . Any other will lead you away from the truth . God bless you

Avoid church and religion at ALL costs.
Learn to stand on your own and to face your problems by yourself.
Then and ONLY then can you say you are saved.
But if you're a mental midget and need a magic sky-pixie leading you by the nose, I think 'whynotaskdon' has some pointers. He's the leader of the pin-head platoon around here...

Ask God to know the truth. Find a church where one holding the authority to baptize will be able to baptize you. You can also be taught by missionaries. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Admit to God that you are a sinner and ask forgiveness for those sins. Then believe that Jesus died on the Cross for your sins. Confess that he is Lord and Savior of your life.
