You can mix in with cold pasta and some veg, and a little mayo for a nice summer salad, or add it to hot cooked pasta for a delicious pasta dish, my kids like it when i make an Alfredo sauce, and add it to that. You have a pesto cream sauce that is to die for.
We also served it over grilled chicken"pesto Chicken" in some restaurants I have worked in. You don not need to heat the pesto, just add it. If it gets to hot it will get dark.

If you heat pesto, you cook the basil and it won't taste like pesto any longer. If you're adding it to pasta, do so with a little of the cooking water, while the pasta is still hot. You may want to add a little more olive oil to make it all lubricated. The pesto will heat up as you toss it with the pasta.

Heat it a little. My thought is that you should use much less pesto than any other type of sauce, so piping hot pasta should heat up the pesto.

Don't overheat, or the basil will lose some aroma.

I let it go to room temperature, after taking it out of the freezer / refrigerator. Then I just let the heat of the spaghetti or whatever heat up the pesto sauce.

If you want to eat truly healthy, lose body fat consistently, normalize your blood pressure, cholesterol levels, prevent cancer, and even boost your brain health and energy levels, you may have heard all over the news that the Paleo Diet has been found to be one of the best methods of achieving all of these benefits compared to any other popular "fad" diets out there. Go here https://biturl.im/aU4ua

The truth is that the Paleo Diet will never be considered a fad because it's just simply the way that humans evolved to eat over approximately 2 million years. And eating in a similar fashion to our ancestors has been proven time and time again to offer amazing health benefits, including prevention of most diseases of civilization such as cancer, heart disease, alzheimers, and other chronic conditions that are mostly caused by poor diet and lifestyle. One of the biggest misunderstandings about the Paleo Diet is that it's a meat-eating diet, or a super low-carb diet. This is not true

it depends...you can add it to your favourite plain pasta or fried shrimp DURING the cooking process or use it as a cold dipping sauce, but i would not heat it up by itself.
anyway, when you cook it with something, make sure you don't heat the pesto too long, because the herbs (basil) will become bitter.
(it's perfect as a marinade for stir-fry food!)

either one... you can use it cold on sandwiches (mix it with an equal amount of mayo for a creamy pesto) or heat it a little and put it over pasta and veggies.

I don't cook it, but I put it on hot pasta and let the pasta heat it through.
