is it true that when u insert the "WINDOWS XP HOME EDITION UPGRADE VERSION" cd to upgrade from windows ME to windows XP...... it will ask u for a code or something is it true??????

Yes, you will need the code that is specific for that copy of the software. If you purchase the boxed product, the code will be in the box. If you download it, the code will usually be sent to you by e-mail.

It is possible to install a bootleg version, but that is illegal and should never be done.

Yeah... it will ask you for the serial number sometimes referred to as the software key. It's either on the side of your computer (cannot use the Windows ME key if that's what you have) or it will come with the CDs when you purchased it. I'm not going to go into how to hack it, someone else is welcome to do so but I do not condone hacking or using hacked codes to get your operating system working.

If you bought it you would have seen the key on the CD when you opened it.
