I understand our British cousins immigration issues are more like Canada's. I haven't run the numbers separately but all of Europe will dramatically change in the next ten to twenty years. Check out the Canadian situation and I think you will find it frighteningly similar.

Well its called the British Empire it was made up of many people. Maybe you should just allow Commonwealth citizens only to come to your country? Canada is changing too most of it used to be English, Scottish, Irish, and French. Now we have Italians, Chinese, Koreans, and Iranians. I wouldn't mind if people were assimilated better here the Chinese stay with the Chinese the Italians hang out with the Italians no one really mixes it is some kind of segregated state. So some of you say more people is better for a society but it only is if they actually participate in society right now they just isolate themselves here.

It's a good thing if the foreign born population somewhat shares the same values than those native born. For instance Irish, Scots, etc mingle nicely with the English despite differences with the native born population. I am not sure about other people outside the Europe orbit. I would certainly put some limits.

I don't think you have ever studied British history. We have always been a hybrid nation. The Vikings, french (Norman Conquest mean anything to you?) and the Romans changed the face of British history. I doubt that there are very many of us who are purely descended from the native tribes. Personally I am proud to belong to such a tolerant and multi cultural country. I come from generations of 'English' people but I am proud that my Black & Asian friends whose families came here for a better life, are English too. My countrymen are my countrymen, their race, creed and origins are of no interest to me..

im english and i was born over the bath... england is, and always has had an influx, and exodus. immigrants are a part of our way of life, and just like you americans, we all came from somewhere else. so, if it was good enough for us, and our parents grandparents, they why should it be any different now?

facists and bigots would have you believe itsa terrible thing, it dilutes the racial purity... horse poo! immigration and exodus alows society to change, to develop and mature. without it we'd all be called jim bob, or betsy lou... the hillbillies off teh simpsons...

1 of 10 is not bad at all...

Try 6 of 10 here in the U.S.

But.. think about this. All of the U.S. was made up of all different nationalities. England I'm sure is made up of many as well...

So, perhaps it's a good thing?

That's a great thing. It's good to have a variety of people, and you can learn about different cultures.
