I think the new job sounds great, I don't blame you for wanting to stay there I believe I would do the same. My suggestion is maybe you could help your parents by helping them to find a suitable replacement. It seems like you might be in a place to meet people and find them a good person. Sometimes things come up as oppurtunities for both parties involved.

Wow,great for you and your new job!!! That is fantastic. Your father on the the other hand,is most likely happy for you,and hurt that you didn't want to stay in the family business. Please give him some lead way,ok. I'm,sure that in time he will be able to hire a very competent person. Maybe he will be missing the time that he has with you. Could your mother fill in for the absence that will be there? Maybe tell your father that you could help out at least once a month, and not drop him all the way. But congratulations on the new job. Just keep in mind that family is all that you have in the present time, that when the time comes when your love ones part on this earth, you will most likely do anything just to have them with you....Good Luck....dimples

Congratulations on the new job. You sound excited as you should be. BUT, in your excitement don't forget about your parent feelings. This is not a typical employer / employee relationship. The two weeks notice is likely a shock to them.
My suggestion is to make a win win situation out of this. Help them as much as you can but in the meanwhile look for someone that can fill the job better than you did. You must have friends and friends of friends that will know someone who may be perfect for the position you are leaving. Use your skills as an admissions advisor to feel people out. Make a going away gift of this to your folks.
When we are young and in a hurry to start our own lives, we tend to take our parents for granted. Parents never take their kids for granted. Help them with their busuness while you can and visit them often. Life is short.

Congratulations on finding another job and one that you love! As for your parents, let this be a reminder and a lesson as to why it's not a good idea to work for family members. You know the problems it can cause.
