I see people say atheist think they are their own gods (in one of my questions for example). A god is a higher power that created you. I do not think I am a higher power than myself, or that I created myself, as this is impossible. Yes, I live by my rules. Christians live by their books rules. Animals live by their rules. So animals by that logic think they are god, and if they think about that stuff, then they made the decision, and the ones that do not live by the bible are going to hell. But all atheists live by their rules, and each person lives a little different, so we all just live our lives not worship ourselves. And why do Christians (some, I know) claim to know what I think I am.

I am quite angry yes, but because answer 2 called me christian. I am atheist. I am not lashing, but asking a question. Not everyone feels the same as you kid, so they give that answer. I am trying to get some issues I see on this site resolved.

Atheist itself is non believers in any kind of worship and they don't believe God, angels and religions. They don't believe all the superstitions derived from past history & theology. The don't believe in their birth and the reason of their birth. Sounds funny no?

All these goes well still they are financially sound & in good health. Once the health condition deteriorates and financial condition weakens automatically they take the religious books in their hands, make pilgrimage and even try to preach others of their past and advise others that they had committed a greaat sin!!!!
All these happens because they expect that the death will knock their doors at any time and they are freightened the departed soul will reach to a wrong place and further suffering they have to face!!!

This is true for alot of people in general and not only Atheists. Alot of people truly worship themselves, as well as their material things. It does not sound to me like you percieve yourself as a god, but at the same time Christaians live by FAITH and not by books, though we put our faith in what His word says. I have only been a Christian for 4 years and I never went around calling myself an Atheist or anything, and I used to read the Bible to actually try and find contradictions in it, but after I recieved Christ, he and his word changed my life. Thanks you for saying "some I know" when referring to Christians. Unfortunately there are "some Christians" I know who are more like the Pharisees that crucified Jesus, and some who aren't even Christians to begin with. Peace

Wilful ignorance? Misconceptions? Take your pick. Hey... they're Christians! What do you expect... rational thought? Pfffftttt. You're talking about people who... with no evidence whatsoever... believe things like:

*  a universe in which all that exists are the earth and heaven
*  solid 'firmmament' structure (the sky) seperating the earth from heaven (terrarium earth)
*  talking snakes (with legs) and donkeys
*  shepherd staff turning into an asp
*  demons chased out of people and into pigs
*  friendly spirits
*  evil spirits
*  walking on water
*  multiplying loaves and fishes
*  food falling from the sky
*  conception by a ghost
*  people raising from the dead
*  the sun stopping in its tracks
*  parting seas
*  people being bodily sucked up into heaven (which, by the way, lies on the 'other side' of the sky)
*  world-wide flood that drowned the earth to a depth of 40 feet above the tallest mountain
*  creating people from dust bunnies and ribs
*  magical tree of knowledge
*  god speaking from a burning bush
*  ritual cannibalism, by eating god in the form of a cracker

I have always thought that an atheist is someone who simply disagrees with the views of religious doctrine, believing that everyone and everything is subject to change.
I have no qualm with religious doctrine any longer
because I have seen the beauty that it creates. At this point I choose the church as more of a hospital for humanity than an evil monster with a million rules to follow.
Thanks for listening. :)

Given that atheists don't believe in a god period (themselves included), all I can conclude is that you are an angry, intolerant, arrogant christian looking to lash out at people who are different from you.

grow up

I'm an atheist too and I think that this is partially true.
No,I did not create myself, nor am I a higher power than myself. But I do control myself, I am responsible for myself and I don't think that there is a higher force than me. While believers think that god controls them, that he is responsible for everything in their lives and that they depend on his will. I depend on my own will and circumstances in the outside world.
I don't think that I'm a god, but I take responsibility for myself as if i was. If those too cowardly to take responsibility for themselves and those that they influence think that that's godly, let them. It's a compliment to those like us.

What makes you so particular which you exist? How do you define existence and how do you define God? in case you have controlled to create a god on your individual photograph and likeness and then desperate it does not exist, you need to truly be getting counselling. in the main recent census, sixty 8% of the British inhabitants claimed to have a faith (aside from Jedi & FSM). 60% of the penal complex inhabitants claims to have a faith. (that doesn't evaluate the reality that prisoners can declare privileges in the event that they have a faith and the determine is in all risk decrease). You do the math.
