David

Elhanan, one of King David's elite fighters, killed Goliath.

In 2 Samuel 21:19, Elhanan is credited with slaying the brother of Goliath. But in the original Hebrew text, the words "the brother of" do not appear.

There is also evidence in the Bible that David was already King when Goliath was killed, contradicting the claim that it happened when David was a boy.

Thus, there was a distortion of the original story, in which Elhanan killed Goliatth. David was given credit for the deed as a way of adding to his legendary status, sort of like the story about George Washington cutting down the cherry tree.

Goliath simply lost the will to live. David just conveniently arrived right on the day Goliath was going to die. In life, timing is everything.

Goliath was an arab out to attack the jews.

David, a jew, sought to defend himself and his friends and defeated Goliath because he was just desirous of peace.

Too bad the current battle cannot be ended with a simple stone and sligshot in the hands of an innocent boy.

David. He went to a stream and picked up 5 smooth stones ( one for Goliath and 4 for his other 4 brothers should they decide to challenge him).
