A definitive NO. You never go back. I did the same thing a few years ago and we ended up having most of the same issues that we had the first go around. Yes, you have a child together but there has to be more to it than that. You will always feel something for this other person because of what you shared together but it really isn't worth it. You have to ask yourself what your motivation is for wanting to get back together with your ex. If it's because you're lonely and need a shoulder to cry on...talk to a friend or get an animal.

me and my ex have a kid together and we have been split up for two years too!
it depends on the circumstances on the split in the first place, if you trully want them back then give it a try, but make sure you are doing it for the right reason
for example, if it is just to see kid more then it wont work out and things could get ugly, if you really want to be a family talk it through.... but don't do it 'for kids sake' as what kid would want their parents together but unhappy? yes it may be painful to not see both parents together but better in long run as if you are happy, they are happy...
talk it through with ex and good luck :)

You should try, for sure. The family is the centre of our world. So it is well worth the effort. However you must both be on the same wavelength, for it to stand a chance. Do not do it for the kids sake you have to love one another, a marriage is hell without love.
