Its interesting to watch how some theologians, Gnostic's and atheists are desperately embracing revisionist theories about
how the gospels came to be. The reason being that
if the gospels are true, they would have to change their

No. His followers probably bribed the guard at the tomb and took the body away so that Jesus' prophecy of rising in 3 days would appear to be true. The mythology spread, thereby increasing his followers and creating a powerful religious and political movement. It was just a good PR move by the disciples. Don't be naive.
