The person I'm talking about is probably more qualified than alot. He is currently an Army Ranger and has family members in law enforcement.

This will completely depend upon the state's own personnel policies for that state, and for that state's police force.

Many states will allow those with past misdemeanors (including DUI's) to become troopers, if there's evidence that it is not likely to happen again.

Don't know what state ur from but in TN just recently there were some H.P. that had recent DUI's don't remember alot about it but seems to me if it was an old one it shouldn't be counted agains't anyone. Anyway which ever state I'd be willing to bet that there are H.P.'s that have and/or had DUI's. Most H.P.'s are a$$'es anyway.

Simple answer is no. There insurance carrier / risk management will not allow it. Even if it's 10 year's old.

In many, many police departments, dui and domestic battery are the two absolute disqualifiers.

i hope not because then they would be hypocrites. but call the state hp office and find out.
