Hmm...the darker side you say? Gee, funny you should say that! Look at one of YOUR questions, how hypocritical is that?

Hey, I think there's a log in your eye... (Matthew 7:4-5)

That is very true. As an American, I can say "Be afraid... be very afraid." Heck... 6 months ago, I would have said that I'm not afraid of anything. Today, I am VERY afraid of the Republican/Christian-right.

Over 3/4 of Americans are Christians... i.e., incapable of rational thought. A small group on the extreme Christian right ('Dominionists') have largely usurped the local level political apparatus of the Republican Party, and are engaged in a sub rosa process to politically motivate moderate Christians under the false cover of religious issues such as morality and family values. The goal is nothing less than the takeover of all elective offices in the USA, from the local level, all the way up to the President. It is likely that Bush is one of them (see Sources).

Their doctrine comes from the Bible, starting with the term 'dominion' at Genesis 1:28... “And God said unto them, [Adam and Eve] Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; and have DOMINION… over every living thing.” They interpret DOMINION as: “... a supremacy in determining and directing the actions of others or in governing politically, socially, or personally.”

They want to remake the USA as a theocracy... and they are succeeding. Then, the world.

We are sowing the seeds of our own destruction, while these religious nut-jobs are setting the stage for Armageddon.

Ninety percent of the users here might be Americans, but I'm sure these questions don't show the thinking power of ninty percent of the population.
About half of these questions are from kids who have just discovered their sex organs and are so fascinated by them that it's the only thing in their minds.
I really can't make myself believe that the average person in the country can't spell the most common words or use the most elementary grammer.
Also, many of the most stupid questions appear to be by those who are struggling with our language, indicating that they are not Americans.

"truely reflect the darkser side of current day American people, society and culture?"

That's a pretty big assumption.

I'm guessing that Yahoo Answers isn't the only place from which foreigners get their impressions of Americans. Bigots exist in every culture.

I'm more embarrassed by the rampant poor grammar and spelling (especially since there is a spellcheck tool right next to the box where we type our answers) of both the bigots and the non-bigots.

@ 2 Timothy 3: 1 But know this that in the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here. 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, self-assuming, haughty, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, disloyal 3 having no natural affection, not open to any agreement, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, without love of goodness, 4 betrayers, headstrong, puffed up with pride, lovers of pleasure, rather than lovers of God. 5 having a form of godly devotion but proving false to its power. 7 always learning and yet never able to come to an accurate knowledge of truth.
Pay attention to this scripture, and compare the questions and answers with the discriptions of what mankind will be like during the last days.
It's crazy everywhere, altho americans seem to be more 'puffed up with pride' than most others. Being american it's makes me feel ashamed

Compared to what other countries are doing right now, America is almost the least crazy.
We might be the most aggressive, ignorant, or stubborn, but crazy?
Not really.
Plus I'd rather be crazy in a democracy where it's my choice than to be sane in a monarchy, dictatorship, theocracy, etc. where the government makes my choices for me.

ATTENTION: yahoo! answers

Dear yahoo! answers,
Your site has been overridden by Americans, their stupidity, their lack of appropriate spelling and bad grammar. According to statistics, 90% of the people on this site is bringing the good old fashioned "apple pie life" down. Please transfer some to the other portion of the yahoo world site (.uk seem to be appropriate), I don't know what could've cause this massive outbreak of the dumb virus, but I have a feeling it's coming from people asking to get screwed or ten year olds wondering if they can successfully manuver vehicles without their parents knowing.
Gosh! Life is hard for us. Please spread the love around.
sincerely,
____________

Wow you must have some icredible sources to get such perfectly documented statistics. You are an idiot. What you are mostly reading is underaged kids screwing around on their computers.

Your vague question deals with generalities based on bogus and undocumented statistics. Therefor, it is rhetoric and should be ignored.

Initiating IGNORE BEAM!! BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ......Idiot.
