It is not so much an issue of age, you have to prove that you are financially able to care for a child. No adoption agency would EVER turn an infant over to a teenager because in the eyes of the law you are still a child yourself. Finish school, find a career maybe get married then consider adoption.

The process of adopting is a long and complicated one. You have to prove the following:
1. Financial stability (translated steady job with steady income that you have been at for over one year and are likely to stay at for 18months or more after the placement of the child).
2. Emotional stability (verified by 6 or more visits by the agency social worker before and after placement).
3. Psychological stability (verified by a variety of tests verbal and sometimes paper questionaires).
4. Criminal background checks at the state and federal level.
5. Educational background checks.
6. Extensive personal questioning on your parenting skills and decision making processes including rewards and punishment for the child, boundaries you will set, education you will provide, religious instruction, sexual education, etc. You will be questioned about your personal habits and actions, your sexual history, your relationships with others including boyfriends and other friends, family, church affliations if any, etc.
7. Finally you will pay fees to initiate the adoption, fees for your home study, legal fees, court fees, and fees associated with travel and medical expenses for the child.

Are you wierd to want to adopt. Certainly not. Can you handle all of the above? That's for you to decide. You will not be judged on your parents ability to help raise the child, it will be based solely on your abilities.

PS This process takes anywhere from 9 months to several years

It costs THOUSANDS of dollars to adopt a child from any country, even here in the US. Plus, the child must be cared for by the states standards. If you truly want a child and are prepared for one, maybe consider sperm donation. But you have to be ready. It's all cute when you're changing them in little outfits and taking them for walks. But when they're screaming and crying at 2am for no reason, you wonder what you've gotten yourself into.

Most want you to be 25, the prefer married couples and you must have a good income, plus it can take years to adopt. They won't even consider a teenager.

You need to be over the age of 18, with a good job, home and everything a child needs. You are just a teen...you have nothing to offer a baby since you are just a baby yourself.

IF you mean to adopt a "child" NOT a kid, you must be 21.

You have to be financially stable with a way of providing a good home for a child.

That usually rules out teenagers!
