contact the hospital where you were born(or where u think u were born). they may have your birth records, and probably the name of the mother.

Contact:
-the hospital you were born in
-the town/city/village hall for where you were born and adopted
-the state in which you were in foster care
-the foster agency or adoption agency
-your foster/adoptive mother's family members
-any other foster moms with whom your mother may have associated (did she belong to any support group, etc.)

There are also a bunch of websites out there (such as adoptionforum.com) to help with this very thing...can be especially helpful if your birth mother wants to track you down as well. But even if you don't find her, you can get support and additional resources. Use the links below!

I answered another adoption question earlier.. I have adopted siblings. How old is your sister? Maybe your sister has paperwork from your mom before she died. I am pretty sure that your birth certificate will have your adoptive moms name on it. Here is a suggestion, post in newspapers in new jersey, post on line, that you are looking for your birth mother, put your date of birth, and city of birth. Give her the opportunity to find you. She may not want to be found, keep that in mind.

Contact the NJ state Dept. of Health/Records. I know NY has a registry in which if both the birth parent and the child register, the agency passes on the contact information.

That's how my birth daughter found me.

There is also a national registry.
