Even foreign military ranking officers, except when you're shooting them. If you just wing one and capture him, it is common military courtesy to salute whenever interfacing with him while he is your POW.

Not only do you have to salute other forces, you have to salute some foreign militaries as well. A good rule of thumb is that if the foreign country is in NATO you better salute. Always better to be safe than sorry. I was in naval intelligence and most of my chain of command at times was foreign. I had a Canadian Army Sargent as my section chief and an Australian Naval Division Officer. I not only had to learn the traditions and respects given to our own military but theirs as well.

Air Force salutes the Navy, Army, Marines and Coast Guard, and vice-versa and all combinations.

yes - you are required to salute higher ranking officers of any branch of the service in the same manner you are required to salute officers in your branch of service
