You shouldn't go outside without sunscreen. The sun is the leading cause of skin cancer. Don't run between 12 and 4, thats when the sun is the highest in the sky and you are more likely to get burned and it is also the hottest part of the day. So go early in the morning or later on in the evening when the sun is setting or when it's dark.

You need a high spf sunscreen at those times. Noon to three is when the sun is at the highest in the sky, and it is not recommended for people to be out in the sun for longer than 20 minutes during this time period. You should probably be running in the early AM or later evening. There are sunscreens now with spf of 60 to 75. They are generally made for young children, but I use them myself and I am in my 40's. I am very light skinned and burn to a crisp in no time. I basically put some on everyday, even if it is overcast, or I am inside. I have a lot of nice windows in my home, which I love, but they do let the harmful rays in, along with the sunshine. Please be careful with your skin, I know many people who have gotten skin cancer and/or ended up with scars on their skin from being outside with no sunscreen. If you are going to run outside in daylight, you need the sunscreen. Great job running for your health, now take care of your skin!!!! Have a great day!!!

You should use sunscreen no matter what when you are outdoors. 20 years ago when i was a kid, SPF 45 kept me white all year long. But...now my kids with an SPF 45 are burning in under and hour and I am constantly reapplying it on them and myself. They now sell SPF 70. Sun is getting hotter. Don't mess with it. Wear sunscreen every day, even for a walk to the store because skin cancer is something you should try to avoid. Cancer of any sort is no joke.

Just use some sweat proof sunscreen. As far as running 12 to 3 if you could move that to morning or evening it would decrease the suns impact on your skin. Good for you keeping in shape!!
