Lived 1770 to 1845. Daughter of Samuel Barker and Christian Coffin. I can't find anything on line about why she was called the Witch of Endor. In the Bible this witch brought back the prophet Samuel for King Saul.

This was an actual person, not a fictional character. I assume others have used the Witch of Endor in literature.

Perhaps you should contact the Nantucket Historical Society. I've tried googling but can't find it. The NHS has written manuscripts by Kezia Coffin Fanning - #MS2 - daughter of John Coffin and Kezia Folger. They also have MS140 - Barker Family Papers, 1720-1853 and that may have some clue as to why she was called the Witch of Endor.

The address for the research library is:

NHA Research Library
7 Fair Street
P.O. Box 1016
Nantucket, MA 02554

Here is the link to the website also as it may be useful to you:

Good luck in your search.
