I'm sick to my stomache at the moment and don't know what to do. I'm currently enrolled in a different High School(home studys program). I've been researching about my course's and the courses at the public High School near me. The coures's I have takin' in my Home Study differ from the ones at the High School. I've never takin' Biology nor chemistry. I'm missing 2-3 math coures's also. I'm 2 exams away from graduating from Home study's High School but to be honest I don't want a diploma from them and want to go back to school; and another thing is is that I might have to repeat 2-3 years of high school. Is 18 years of age too old? I might be 20-21 when I graduate. Will I be better of going back or just graduating.

Get your home study diploma. Then, before you start college (assuming you intend to go), get some books out of the library and study all that yourself. It will be much quicker than going back through 3 years of school.

First let me say GOOD FOR YOU> So many kids your age don't even care. You are way ahead of the game. Going back to High School is worth it. You will need to have required courses if you have any intention of going to college. Plus putting forth the effort now will prove to yourself and everyone that you are focused, Believe in yourself. You can take some H.S. courses at a Community College (if not free then cheep) . An education is lone thing that can take you any where you want to be and NO ONE can ever take it away from you.

A high school degree is always better than a GED, and h.s. is available in free public education. If your Board of Education can let you attend, by all means attend. but focus on the classes and don't waste time with too much social activity. Remember you will have been already older than many, so try not to get drawn into relationships with girls who are minor, and don't let anyone give you a hard time for having failed out. Mind your own business and focus on graduation. Good luck!

I wish parents considering home schooling would read more questions like yours! You need to arrange a meeting with the counselor at your local high school. They will advise you as to what options are available. I am sure they will be willing to help and may know some other solutions than those you have proposed. It is possible at most schools to take tests that will allow you to skip certain classes if you make a high enough score and still get credit for that class. Please make an appointment ASAP. It is NEVER too late to better your education.

Go back, believe me, it's worth it. I didn't graduate until I was 27(I had a busy life). When I finally decided to get a GED. The time, in High School, will be one of the high points in your life eventually, and when you get it done, you will see it's really not that hard to do. Good luck with it:)

18 is not too old to go back to school, I know of one person who was 75 years old when she got her high school diploma, so it makes no difference how old you are. A high school diploma is much better then a GED. So if you want to go back by all means go back. besides going from home schooling back to high school the school might test you, to find your grade placement. so if you test high enough you might not have to take any grades over.

I would suggest getting a GED and going on to college. I agree that a high school diploma is better, but you are 18 and it will take you a few more years to finish. I got my GED last year and it was very simple. I only went to 9th grade and I passed it. Now as soon as my kids get into school I can go on to college as well. Go get your GED and go on to college. Good luck!

Go ahead and get your diploma from your present system. It still counts. Then you are eligible to take classes at your local community college...or you can elect to go to night school at your local high school and pick up the classes you feel you need. You are never too old; and it is good to get it out of the way while you are still young...or you might risk never getting around to it. I commend you for wanting the knowledge you feel you need...and it is worth pursuing.

Are you planning on going to college? If you are its better to go to HS and complete necessary classes. The school will more than likely work with you so you wont go full days or for all of the years you think you will have to go. I would contact the school and be madder than hell at your parents for putting you through this. Why do people home school their children when they cannot provide them with adequate educations?

better to do it when 20 then 30. I know what its like for you I was sick during high school with a bad case of gastroporesis during high school. I went from being offered to compete in debate tournaments at Stanford and a 4.0 G.P.A. to 1. 0 GPA missing prom. trust me its only gonna get harder the longer you wait. keeping pushing for it, the fact your wondering shows you want to finish.
