I've heard that the frame on the new 2007 Wrangler is "100% stronger", but I've also heard the new Wrangler is based on a unitized body. None of the articles I've seen address this.

Call me old fashioned, but pound for pound in an off-road vehicle, I want a full frame. Marketers can say what they want to, and often do in excrutiating length but with no detail, but a simple Full Frame or Unitized body, which one?

Thanks

The 07 is unibody. But, take it from an off-road enthusiast, this Wrangler will be the best ever(factory) built. The Rubicon edition, as you probably know, has a longer, wider wheel base, front and rear Dana 44 axles with air lockers, electronic sway bar disconnects and other off-raod goodies that will make this a Wrangler to be reckoned with. A unibody is actually stronger, but gives a slightly harsher ride and less frame flex than a traditional full box frame. In my opinion the new Wrangler will not suffer in the least because of a unibody design.

the new wrangler is a body on frame vehicle.

not sure what that other person was saying that a unibody is stronger...or that it gives less 'frame flex' i guess it gives less, because there is no frame. instead what's flexing is the actual body.

with a re-movable top/door etc, it'd be really hard to make any wrangler-type vehicle a unibody vehicle. (note, the old cherokee...when flexed, the windows would flex!)

plus, if the wrangler had a unibody...you would hear about it. people would complain like crazy....like they did when the liberty came out with IFS

now, some other things i don't like are the mini-van engine, and the CV joints instead of u-joints in the driveshaft.

The 2 door is a ful frame, The 4 door, yes 4 door wrangler is bassed on the liberty which is a unitized frame. Saw them being built in Toledo
