EXERCISE!!!!!!!!! He needs to get some!!! You may want to change his diet to a food for LESS active dogs.
It is not always neutering. My grandparents had a intact male Chihuahua who was HUGE. He looked like a sausage. Some just have slower metabolisms. Still, they need mre exercise.

No - spaying/neutering does not make a canines fat and lazy -- yet in my journey with 2 b*tches spayed nicely after grownup-hood and submit Championship it did shrink the quantity of nutrition this is had to maintain them in optimal situation (one b*tch went from 2 cups of kibble an afternoon all the way down to 2/3 of a cup of kibble). In Samoyeds it additionally softens and doubles the size of coat. It additionally did appreciably exchange the force to lead my sled team for one among them - the different did no longer have any temperament differences. i'm no longer anti-spay/neuter ... the final settee surfer owned with the aid of the final fool who won't be in a position of be sure the reproductive organs are not used willy nilly ought to be spay/neutered (and that i comprise that for the two species!). the two way - while you are able to enlighten and eliminate lack of understanding, you won't be in a position of restoration stupid.

It's not necessarily just because he was neutered. I work at a vet and see lots of dogs come in un-neutered who are HUGE, and I see some neutered dogs who are tiny. Be sure that he is getting enough exercise, and maybe talk to your vet about a weight management diet.

The exact same thing hapened to my dog. I think it is because once a male dog is neutered their testosterone levels decrease significantly making them more lethargic and lazy. The best thing to do is to take your chihuaha out for regular walks and/or play with him anything basically to keep him active.

Because they get lazy, and their testosterone is gone. You really can't do much about it, except take him out daily and give him lots of play time. It could also be the type of food that you are feeding him.
Check with a vet.

When pets get fixed they aren't as active. My cat went from about 3 pounds to 11 pounds.

Testosterone keeps them active and on edge and now he's all happy, relaxed and sleeps more. Kind of like a thyroid problem in humans.
