The third commandment in the Bible forbids taking the Lord's Name in vain. most people feel this means not saying God D***
but it can also refer to times when in frustration we might just say Oh God! or Jesus Christ! many years ago in order to justify themselves and feel that they were not breaking this commandment people started saying Jesus H Christ. The H stands for nothing. Actually Christ is Jesus' title not his surname. He would more correctly be known as Jesus The Christ. In the time when Jesus was on the earth physically there were no surnames, He would have been called Jesus of Nazareth or Jesus bar Joseph which means Jesus son of Joseph. Since Joseph was not really Jesus' father people refer to Him commonly as Jesus of Nazareth or just Jesus. Adding "H" in the middle does not mean the commandment isn't being broken unless your looking at it from a strictly legal standpoint. God judges the intent of the heart. hope this helps.

Could be derived from the common Christian symbol for Jesus, IHS, which has been interpreted as Iesus Hominum Salvator (Latin for "Jesus savior of men").

The H was "made-up" by a priest. It stands for Hominea.

Same as Harry H. Corbett. It distinguishes him from the other one. The 'H' stands for Happy.
