there are two ways that i can think of.
1. the rastafarian way where you dont do anything to your hair but wash it and wring it out (this is why some rastas have big knots cause they wring it with their heads) meaning head forward and then lift your head really fast so the water can run out. to keep it smelling good, they cut some fruit and put it in the hair.
2. individually twisting it until it locks (use gel to hold it in) that is why natural hair works better because it does what you want and especially if you have curly natural hair.
dreads can be a good thing cause your hair grows, for some rastas the knot might be so big that it weighs the head so they wear wraps or possibly cut it off.

Multiple techniques exist to get dreadlocks. For example in backcombing one combs the hair repeatedly towards the scalp
one small section at a time.

remember, ninety% you've met with dreadlocks isn't considered the overall public. It merely ought to correctly be the folk you've met on your area do this variety of element or it ought to correctly be the folk you loaf round. even if, i'm the following to assert that there is not any longer direct correlation between Satanism and dreads. i'm Christian and do not worship the devil. Now in case you've been asking a relation between Rastafarians and dreadlocks it is a thoroughly diverse tale.

I've often wondered...
Do people with these dreadlocks and corn rows have clean heads and hair?
I mean, you really can't wash and dry your hair normally...or do they simply avoid washing the hair for weeks, even months at a time?
If I don't wash my hair every day then, I don't feel "clean".

There are temporary ones, that you can wash out, but I don't know how those are done. But there are different ways. One way is neglect. You wash your hair, but not comb it or brush it. Another way is just twisting it. another way is to rub a wool sweater all over your head for a long time. You have to shave or cut to get them out.

they never comb or wash their hair. they put them in indivual locks and use some sort of mixture to make them stiff. if they dont want the dreads anymore, all they can do is shave it all off
