I need to be ready to go in like an hour, and it's thunderstorming, and I'm scared to death to go near water during a thunderstorm....

Go take a shower....odds are in your favor that nothing will happen. Not only are the odds of your house getting hit by lightning phenomenal, but the fact that you are taking a shower does not increase those same odds.

Keep in mind, your house is grounded anyway. Enjoy your shower.

NOTE: I wouldn't take shower in a thunderstorm if it is dark outside, just incase the power would go out...then you'd be naked, wet, and in the dark fumbling about. Slips and falls...and all that.

i understand i wont even take my bath during a thunderstorm, i try to wait it out, but in your case i would say a sponge bath should work, just put some water in a bowl and get your soap and rag and wash off, that is what we do in the nursing home to keep the residents safe during a storm of that kind it lowers the risk of them and the staff from getting hurt. hope this helps.
