I have a brother in law that keeps stealing my video games, now i know that they're just games but ive used my hard earned cash to get them and he takes them and uses them to fund his drug habits, what i'm trying to ask is there some way that i can prove that hes the one taking them cuz they go missing and i never see him leave with them, and i can keep him out of my apartment cuz my girlfriend keeps letting him up. oh and ill just add that hes 18 and already has warrents out for his arrest. so maybe that will inspire some of you out there.

wow, that's a tuffy. 1) dump your girlfriend; she can't let him in if she isn't there. 2) set up a hidden camera and take the footage to the police; file a report and call them when he shows up next time. 3) tell your girlfriend that under no circumstances is he to be allowed in. 4) get a small room safe to keep you video games in; they aren't cheap or free. why should you work hard to support his habit? 5) call the police when he shows up just so that they can arrest him. that way you don't have to press charges and your girlfriend won't get mad. 6) break one of his fingers and tell him that the next time anything else turns up missing that he'll end up with more than that broken.
good luck, hope i helped.

You can put in a video camera to catch him in the act, but it sounds more like you and the girlfriend need to talk. If she knows you don't want him in the apartment and lets him in anyway then you seriously need to rethink your relationship with this woman. She is disrespecting you by ignoring your wishes.
Tell her it's time to put up or get out. You don't want him there and if she insists she should find another BF and place to live.
One other thing, how can u have a girlfriend and a bro-in-law? If it is her bro he is not an in-law cause you aren't married to her.And if she doesn't care about your needs don't make her bro a bro-in-law for real, or you will be very sorry.

The problem is with your girlfriend. You should be able to have your belongings anywhere you want in your own home. You can put a camera in the room if you want to catch him, but what good would that do? If he has a habit and no job, how can you get restitution? Plus, won't there be backlash from the girlfriend if you have him arrested? Either she has to stop being in denial about her brother (?) or you have to rethink the relationship.

Why don't you tell the gf to keep him out of the apartment and lock up the games. It could save you a bundle. Talking to him and letting him know if another game is missing you will kick his *** may help but if the habit is bad enough he will do anything to get the stuff. Too bad He has fallen prey to that stuff.

He can't steal from you, if you don't allow him into your apartment.(unless he breaks in, and then you could file charges against him, for breaking and entering)

Tell your girl friend that she is not to let him in the apartment...period.

If he already has warrant's out for his arrest, it is just a matter of time before law enforcement catches up with him, and puts him behind bars.

If I were you and your girl friend, I would not have any involvement with this person, he is headed down a dead end road..prison.

Personally, I would go to his apartment, steal his drugs and paraphernalia, and turn the things over to the police.
What I would advise you to do, though is to talk it out with him and encourage counseling. There are free clinics throughout the country. Don’t be afraid to throw out vague threats of pressing charges. Also, mark your pawnables in ways that are not easily removed. Yes, it ruins their re-sale value, but it also makes them recoverable and leads investigators to him.

Why don't you tell your GF that he is NOT allowed there anymore, tell him to go get help, and start locking things away. He will eventually get what's coming to him. Don't turn him in, that puts you in the middle of it. Maybe calling the police and just report it as a crime. He will slip up eventually, and then you can just say, I knew it. Other than kicking his @$$, I don't know what else to say.

Set up a hidden camera, they have a cheap closed circuit TV sytem at Wal Mart for like 50 bucks, catch him and confront him. Video games aren't cheap, man.
