(i saw this old guy next to me catching 10 catfish in 30 min and he kept his rod on those forks that hold it up while fishing in the weeds using mackeral and only getting tangled a few times, he only used a small hook with a chunk of mackeral and a a small weight exactly half a foot next to the bait)

Use reed less lures. perhaps a bobber just above the bottom with a nice juicy worm dancing...

top crankers or check sporting good stores for weedless rigs. usually a thin wire that blocks the tip of the hook. If you're using spinner bait, try taking one of the strands of the rubber skirt and press the point through it.

Wal-mart etc. sells "weedless spoons". They are about 5 bucks and they are amazing! The fish go nuts for the shiny spoons and no weeds! Happy Fishing!

may i suggest you pinch the barb down on your hooks (Warning live bait will swim off), weedless hooks or fish a plastic frog in the weeds

You need to fish with a floating thing close to the surface, smaller fish but a lot more.

hang your weight closer to the middle of line..or not on bottom..and don't drag your hook on the bottom....also fish away from shore...

the big fish swim in the middle of the lake..where the water is deep!

When your cast your line out, keep the pole up and keep reeling. Once you stop, you will get stuck. Also you can use a bubble.
