The fluid from the blisters of Shingles can transmit Chicken Pox to someone who has never had Chicken Pox before...BUT you can't pass Shingles itself from one person to another. You can't catch Shingles from someone who has it.

Wash clothing and bedding that is contaminated with the fluid from the blisters in hot water with regular detergent and dry in a hot dryer.

Have the infected person keep the blisters covered (covered with clothing is adequate) until they are scabbed over and avoid contact with pregnant women, children who haven't had Chicken Pox, and people who are immunosuppressed until the lesions are all scabbed and dry.

You don't need to worry unless you are elderly, feeble (example: Aides patient) or pregnant. And even iff you ARE one of those 3 things, you still can't contract shingles without 4 more factors ALL being present simultaneously! You can only get it if the following 4 facts ALL come together... 1) You must have "low immunity" to get it. 2) You have to have never had chicken pocks in your life. If you have ever had chicken pox you are immune, believe it or not. It is the same virus! 3) You can't get it unless you have direct flesh-on-flesh contact, so what is your meaning in using the code word "dating". 4) Finally, even if ALL the above is present at the same time, you still can't contract shingles unless they are oozing at the moment of contact! Perhaps you can "Contract Shingles" if the cute little Muffin that your dating sells building products for home improvements, including roofing shingles, and you sign a cotract with her. You have a "rep" as a funny man, but I'm not kidding. I have a friend whith this malidy, and it is no lauging matter. I'm deadly serious!

No, I have had shingles and nothing had to be disinfected. But, make sure you stay away from pregnant women. Shingles are in the chicken pox family. One cannot get shingles from being around someone with the chicken pox, but, you can get chicken pox(if you haven't had them) from being around shingles. It was a very painful thing to have.

No you don't have do disinfect anything. It's not contagious but is very painful and if treated very early in the episode of the infection (antibiotics) the pain won't be as bad.
It can be a recurring virus and I believe there's a medicine available to reduce episodes.

This is in the family of herpes viruses. Oral medications, such as Valtrex will clear it up quickly.
