i want to get an english bulldog, but theyre like, 2000 bucks!!! does anyone know where we can get one cheaper? like a couple hundred???? on east coast, willing to travel

i have plenty of $ to do monthly payments for vets and shots and food and stuff, its just 2000, 2500 for a dog is alot at once. i need something under 1000.

There are no cheap bulldogs. You can check with a rescue for an adult.
Please keep in mind- they are expensive dogs to keep healthy. They continually have skin problems, ear problems, breathing problems, are prone to upper respiratory infections and have the worst gas imaginable.
You can expect to spend over $1000 a year just keeping them healthy. I average around $1200 a year and mine is healthy. I have to buy special food for him to control the gas $50 a month, heartworm prevention is $200 a year, plus dentals and vaccines as needed. This doesn't even include the baths and ear cleanings add in another $30- $50 a month.
These are not dogs to get without a serious commitment- you've got to love them!

Anyone asking less that that would be selling you an unhealthy puppy mill puppy. $2000 isn't unreasonable when you think that the dog will essentially cost you only $20 a year if he lives ten years.

They are an expensive dog to breed because they require lots of testing to ensure healthy parents before breeding occurs, then 99% of these pups have to be delivered by C-section because of the size and shape of their heads. (same as Bullmastiffs)

And most litters are only about three or four pups at most so the breeders barely even make their money back. (If there's only two pups they actually lose money)

Reputable breeders are not doing it for the money, they are breeding to ensure that their breed survivies and is as healthy as possible.

Find yourself a reputable breeder and buy a nice healthy pup. Don't worry about the cost of the dog, because the initial pricetag will be the least of your expenses with an English Bulldog.

One time I bought a Bulldog from a guy on ebay a really good steal for 500 bucks, but a week later I got in the mail a box with no holes in it, I was very concerned, I opened it and the dogs head was in it along with a video tape, I put the bloody tape in my vcr and the sick guy had video taped cutting the dogs head off while he was alive, he is in jail now though he used his real address and stuff on ebay so they were able to track him down.

You can go to puppyfind.com where I've had the best luck, for the best results, just remember to meet with the sellers before you buy, because it might have a health problem. Most sellers on puppyfind aren't that inconsiderate though. Keep in mid that English bulldogs usually do have a lot of problems that have to do with breathing. Keep this in mind before you invest, because these are serious problems and expensive to treat. Good luck!

If you cannot afford to buy one, then you cannot afford the vet care that they OFTEN require!!!!!!!!! They are a very unhealthy breed and you can rack up very serious vet bills early on.
