Because all the good jobs are being sent overseas. And corporations are actively hiring undocumented workers so they can pay less for the jobs here. Most new jobs are being created in the service industry sector. there are several ways to reverse this trend.
1: Walk away from all these Free Trade Agreements. Ross Perot had it right when he said if NAFTA passed you'd hear a giant sucking sound as job went to Mexico. No they are being sucked to Asia. And Bush has showed us that we can walk away from treaties.
2: Return to tariffs. They worked for 200 years protecting our manufacturing base, they can work for another 200 years. and it will bring manufacturing jobs back to the US.
3: Enforce the laws on the books for hiring undocumented workers. If they can't get or keep jobs here they will go home.It's not that they do jobs Americans won't do, they do jobs Americans can't do because they won't get hired!
4: Get a single payer health plan. It will reduce the cost to business. You'd probably pay less then you premiums are now. And everybody will covered. We have it now, it's called Medicare. Just expand it to everybody.
