loosen the top the salt shaker, put something that she uses all of the time in the refrigerator so she can think that she is losing her mind, hide her car keys and after you have helped her look for them put them in a spot where she have already check and say "they are right here".

you should by your mother in law flowers on her child's birthday (and write ..thank you for bringing him/her into the world....and buy the father something as well...with the same thing written on it)...
talk to your spouse about your mother in law..explain to them that you don't like how their parent is making you feel. ask them to talk to their parent in a round about way..
the more you are mean to them...the more they are going to lash at you and probably your spouse....
