I know it's totally normal for him to be interested in and playing with that area of his body. But it's really driving me nuts to constantly be changing his sheets and clothes because he took off his diaper and got pee and poop everywhere. I've even tried keeping a onsie on him to deter him, but he can unsnap it or just streches it out. So sick of gross laundry!

I had the same problem with my middle son around that age. This is what I did....First I put his diaper on backwards (this worked for a while) then I put a onesie on him backwards (so he couldn't get to the snaps and diaper backwards so he couldn't undo the tabs through his clothes). This worked for a while then We had to get footy pj's cut the feet out , put the backwards diaper on him and then put the pjs on backwards so he couldn't unzip and get out of them... this finally worked until he outgrew the behavior.

I read the other responses and I think that there is some wisdom in them. I think you are on the right track to try to put a few obstacles in the way to deter him. However, you have a persistent little guy on your hands.

Try putting the diaper on backwards, so that the tabs go towards his back. He would have to reach behind him and pull them in an awkward angle, after getting past a t-shirt, shorts.... this should slow him down for awhile.

I know this must be exhausting for you but there really are benefits to having a child with such a drive to complete his chosen task. This is rewarded heavily in adulthood... Sure you have to wait a long time but sometimes when you are cleaning out a poopy sheet, think of this it might help.

LOL my kid just stopped doing this. I can tell you that it is a phase and there is really not too much that you can do. Make sure that you tell him that this is bad. Do whatever it is that you do that makes him understand that you are angry, and disappointed. He is still young and is figuring out that he can work his diaper off. Completely normal. Remember that he is still learning and it will stop. I cannot tell you how many things I have cleaned that had poop or pee on it when my child was 1.5 - 2.25. IT DOES STOP THOUGH!

How bout making him feel like a big boy and put PULL-UPs on him or even better since its summer time let him wear his diaper and put and Underware over it. Maybe that could also work too. I've done this with my son and it work. May not work for everyone but hey you can give it a try. Good Luck

Maybe it is time to start potty training him. If he feels the need to take the diaper off maybe he doesnt like the feel. Try training pants and see if he wants to use the potty like a big boy. I know it sounds like it is really early but it could be worth a shot. It could save your sanity, his cloths and your furnature.

So yeah, inspire her to bypass on the "vast lady" potty and get her each and all the gorgeous lady underclothes. whilst i exchange into little I HATED donning pants or maybe undies for that count, my father and mom ought to by no ability decide why, so i could be working around the residing house with out pants on. Its purely somewhat and that i could delve too plenty into it, yet dont supply her the attention like numerous different individual mentioned the two, she apparently likes it once you run after her attempting to seize her.

get pullups! That will fix it with out onsies or shorts...If he is like my 9 month old it'll come off through the onsie and make a bigger mess...Just buy pullups or maybe get training panties to prepare him for potty training...Huggies pullups have velcro sides tha help when there is poo inside..

He's not old enough to use the toilet independently, so, for now, use duct tape over the tabs! It will stay on until the next change.

Don't forget to give him lots of diaper-free time at bath time.

Best wishes!

its time to start potty training, and put a pull up at night. Take a little wash rag with some colorful pics on it (ex. a little bear or something) and put it in the potty and tell him to shoot it, when he does act like he just became president (LOL)
