The earliest release of SP2 had some problems but those have since been fixed through a number of patches and updates. I have been using SP2 since it was released and haven't had any problems with it so I'd say go ahead, assuming you're using a Genuine copy of Windows. There are also a number of updates in SP2 that will dramatically improve performance and security.

sp2 can cause problems with certain virus scanners like norton, but patches are avalible from company websites to sort this out,so whatever scanner you have, check their site to see if there are any issues with sp2
with ref to "is it worth installing"well the answer is "yes"..service pack 2 is the most important update you will have in xp,it also has lots of added features such as
1.firewall
2.security center
3.automatic updates
4.pop up blocker
there are many more features, but mainly the idea behind sp2 is to protect you while online ,the only problem is the firewall is only one way(incoming)so it wont scan any outgoing traffic, but you can always install "zone alarm" which has both way scanning"
you must have a genuine windows xp to install sp2,and the installation process is quite long so be patient
good luck

Yes, Service Pack 2 is worth installing mainly for improved security.
Major computer manufacturers recommend SP2, but in many cases they also have a list of revised drivers and other software patches that should be installed before SP2 (see link below).

NOT installing it can also cause problems. There are lots of security updates in it that you need to protect your computer from virii and trojans--it doesn't do too much for security, but you're better off with it than you are without it.

I`ve been using Windows SP2 on my XP-Home Edtion from day one, and I`ve not had any problem with it.
But, as has been previously mentioned above, make sure you are running genuine windows.
:-)
