Maybe because the coming of the Lord is nearer than we think.

2 Timothy 3:1 But know this, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, not loving what is good, 4 traitors, headstrong, having been puffed up, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from these people turn away!

2 Timothy 4:3 For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, 4 and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.

2 Thessalonians 2:1 Now, brothers, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we beseech you, 2 not to be quickly shaken from your mind, nor be disturbed, neither by spirit nor by word nor by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ has come. 3 Let no one deceive you by any means; for that day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is unveiled, the son of perdition,

People look at religion nowadays, and don't see it being on a pedestal anymore. With all the scandal going in the world of religion, and all the wars fought over it, you begin to lose faith in it. You realize it's just another mechanism run by flawed humans.

(And YES - Christianity is a religion!! I know that argument will come up inevitably.)

People are giving all of the religions the cold shoulder because almost all of the wars, conflicts, controversies, scandals, and hate crimes have been started by religious radicals or for a religious purpose. When people see these things happening because of religion, why would they want to jump on the bandwagon that's causing so much pain and hatred around the world?

I think a couple reasons could be that people realize that these preachers or pastors aren't as moral as they claim to be and don't want their children subjected to the immoral pediophiles.

Another reason could be that they realize that religion is the main reason for all of the conflict in the world. It's like a 2nd (or maybe 3rd or 5th) Holy War going on today.

It is possible that people are getting sick and tired of having things shoved down their throat.

I mean come on, who wants to be around people who are so repressive and demanding? People just want to live their lives in peace. It is bad enough that the world is in an almost complete upheaval. Now I have to deal with people stuffing their beliefs down my throat? I can tell you for one thing that this kind of behavior is what makes me despise christians. I will admit that some of them, SOME OF THEM, are good people. But when they preach love but practice hate, preach peace but practice war, preach that god loves you but in fact he kills you with natural disasters in a very violent and murderous way, it kind of has that effect on people.

It is quite possible to that people are getting smarter. People are starting to understand how the universe and life came to be. Science is starting to move away from ideas and testing into facts.

It could be a whole number of things. But, people will keep worshiping it as long as it is legal to do so....and even if it's not. Even if it is proven wrong people will still choose to be faithful to whatever it is they choose. Some people need the crutch of religion to live their life and explain things that they cannot. While on the other hand, some do not.

The average person is better educated today. In fact, it's only a matter of time and scientific advancement before the majority of Earth's population shys away from religion. Sadly, I doubt that it will happen in my lifetime but it will.

I think people (including myself) are tired of all the negatives that come with religion. There are some positive actions that come out but with all the hate and killing in the name of religion it's really turning people off. Christianity, Islam & Judaism are all guilty and for the last 6 years it's really come to the forefront with Bush pushing his "doctrines" and blurring the line between the separation of church and state...........that's my opinion....

The media has a way of distorting the beliefs of each religion. They focus on all the bad and almost never the good, so people are turned off by that.

Science provides a better life every day . Religion does nothing except to stand in the way of human progess.

As people become accustomed to the miracles of technology, the fantasies of bible origin become mundane.
