Or even within sects. Why persecution of Shia, Sunni, Catholic, protestant, jew, christian?
IF YOU ALL BELIEVE IN FREE WILL IS IT NOT GOD'S WILL THAT SOME BELIEVE AS YOU DO AND SOME DO NOT. so why persecute and/or judge/condem?

As a Muslim that what I am trying to make people understand without trying to their pull people into their own religious beliefs.

I will not comment on Christians because its none of my business but as a Muslim not scared to say that Sunnis Shias are wrong according to Qur'an when they divided the religion into sects of their liking.

The answer is quite simple ,even though we are given free will by God we are also gifted with intelligence and an organ known as brian situated in head to think and conclude what is right and what is wrong.According to Islam if u try to know about Islam and Allah without any bias attitude or prejudices u will conclude that not only every word but also each and every letter of Glorius Quran is true to the fact.Believe me that u can not judge Quran without reading.Seriously even if u read a single chapter of Quran as i have said u will understand why persecution for non believers.
Allah has given us free will to test us whether we choose the correct path or not.
Though Allah knows in advance about whatever we are going to do but he wants to disclose it to all before giving his final judgement.

True Christians don't persecute anyone. They are persecuted themselves.

2 timothy 3:12- Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

Of the 12 apostles, 11 died horrible deaths for their witness.

We suffer because we tell people what they dont want to hear but desperately need to hear.

Athiests and non-Christians confuse Christians with catholics, or false apostles and assume all christians are violent crusaders. A true Christian would never deliberatley hurt another human being.

Luke 3:14- And the soldiers likewise demanded of him, saying, And what shall we do? And he said unto them, Do violence to no man, neither accuse any falsely; and be content with your wages.

You can tell a tree by its fruit! You can decide if someone is a Christian or not by judging their actions and words in the light of
Gods word.

Persecution of nonbelievers by believers I rather call caring about someone that might be lost in the world. Free Will is a way God tests our faith and trust. Who and What do you look for help when in need?

P.S. The Bible says that many will be persecuted, but to fear not if you trust him

We do have free will, and we should not persecute anyone. However, as Christians we are taught to love everyone, therefore, we do not want to see anyone go to Hell. We try our best to let everyone know the truth so that they have the opportunity to accept it if they choose to do so.

God gave man free will to believe in Him or to no believe in Him. The free will is for man to choose the life path that God has put before him or to choose a path of his own. There is only one right path that is laid out before us in the Bible, however, God isn't forcing anyone to take it.

Because they are nut cases. They want not to be wrong so bad that they try to force everyone to believe in what they do, they figure is everyone believe then it must be right. There was a point in time when everyone believed that the world was flat, it still didn't make it so.

If it is free-will, and god already knows everything I am going to do and say in his "master plan," why should I even try to worship him if he already knows I am going to hell?

To me that is not free-will because my judgement is already decided. Free-will is non-existent in religion. The will chastise you for everything you do that is not the way they think it should be.

The simple answer would be to ask the question; If you were to force a person to love you, is this love? That is the free will given.
~Because sometimes it is rocket science.~
