Or at what point you've lost it? And how can you know when you're truly saved, if you can lose it? I'm not trying to be sar-
castic, so please don't get offended. I'm just looking for answers.

backsliding is a gradual process. One may not realize when it first began, however it always ends with the former believer walking away from God and His love.

Read your Bible....its all there.

We're not truly "Saved" until we make it to heaven. Scripture does tell us in Hebrews 10:26; If we sin Deliberately after receiving knowledge of the truth, THERE NO LONGER REMAINS SACRIFICE FOR SINS. Hebrews 10:18 tells us; Where there is forgiveness of these (SINS) there is no longer offering for sin.

Christ was crucified for us but if we intentionally turn away after coming to know him we cannot return. It is as though we Crucify Him a sceond time and He will Not Do That.

Scripture also tells us we must persevere to live right and in His way "til the end". There is no such thing as "Once Saved, Always Saved" we must work at being Christians each and every day.

That does not mean if we commit a sin we are permenantly lost. The difference is, if we "slip" and commit a sin, or we make a choice to leave Christ and "Live in SIn". 1John5:16 says; If anyone sees his brother sinning, if the sin is not deadly, he should pray to God and he will give him life. This is only for whose sin is not deadly. There is such a thing as deadly sin, about which I do not say that you should pray.

This is also the basis for the Catholic Church's teaching on Venial and Mortal Sin. A venial sin, or as John says, one that is not deadly... and Mortal sin, the sin John calls deadly and kills the soul's relationship with God.

Take nothing for granted......

P.S. a note I just had to add concerning the next comment below.... The Bible does not apply only to people who lived in the 1st Century...sorry. The same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

You can not loose your salvation.
Unless you believe in Russian roulette salvation.
You are saved
You sinned your lost, you repent, your saved again, oh, you sinned your lost, you died. You have a big problem.
He keeps you, remember the Shepherd. You know , the One who looks after the sheep.
You don't keep yourself.
You don't even save yourself..
Remember the question the Apostles asked.
Mark 10:26 And they were even more astonished and said to Him, "Then who can be saved?"
Mark 10:27 Looking upon them, Jesus said^, "With men it is impossible, but not with God; for all things are possible with God."
It is God who saves.

Once He saves you, you remain saved. Do you think He is an Indian giver? Here it is, I take it back, Here it is again, I take it back. I DON"T THINK SO!!!
It would be worthless if like this.
You would be begging and groveling and pleading and who knows what, if that was the case.

As to knowing you are saved, it is within you, you just know it. It is a part of you. You are a part of it and it is a part of you.
That is the best way I can think of to express this. Perhaps I could do better but not at this time.

You cannot lose your salvation! The book of Hebrews, specifically chapter 6 is used to support this idea in penticostal circles.
I've read a little about the book of Hebrews and discovered these things in relation the argument of wheter a Christian can lose their salvation.

The book of Hebrews, funnily enough, was written to first century Hebrews who had witnessed the power of the Lord through his apostles first hand through many miracles. If these HEBREWS should fall away THEY could no longer repent because they were made partakers of the Holy Ghost and had tasted the heavenly gift. (Hebrews 6:4-6)

For them to witness and partake in these miracles and then to fall away would be to reject or Blaspheme the Holy Spirit and his work, Just as the pharisees did in Matthew 12.
(Matthew 12:24, 31-32)

I'm not a first century Hebrew, so i'm not gonna directly apply every sentance in that book to my life, here in 2006!

We are commanded to rightly DIVIDE the word of truth!
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (2Titus 2:15, KJV)

To claim a beleiver can lose salvation is wrong and does nothing to edify the church.

Eternal life begins when you beleive, here on earth! You cant have ETERNAL LIFE for a day or a year! Its eternal, God said it through his word. That should settle it.

Jhn 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

(I have posted parts of this before on www.christianster.com but these are all my words)

We come to Jesus by faith to be saved, and contrary to what many may tell you, you can't lose your salvation. That doesn't mean you have free license to do whatever you like and live a reckless life, but it means that all of us make our mistakes and God does forgive. Even people who have "sold there soul to the devil" can be saved if they realize the error of there ways. Salvation is not a feeling it's a fact of God's word.

one doesn't lose their salvation...in the sense that God wont leave them...one would have to choose to walk away from God...and to cease living for Him.....when one makes that choice..God I believe continues to speak to them and is always calling them back......but you will know when God is not operating in your life by the simple fact His presence is missing....just as when one receives Christ as Lord and Savior you just know that you are forgiven...it is a sense of it...I am sorry I cant express it better....

Yes you can lose your salvation - if people believe they can sin and not lose their salvation and soul then they are confused.
