Sure, my dad taught me. Hold one stick firmly in between the thumb and the rest of the hand, supported with the second finger, and hold the other on the tips of the thumb and first finger. Finally, practice; I don't expect you to get it right the first time.

Yep. I spent 2 years in Thailand. I was visiting a family when I first got there and having a hard time picking up the noodles, they kept slipping. Their 4 year old son taught me, he stuck the chopsticks side by side into the noodles and twisted like spaghetti on a fork! He then went back to eating 'normally'.
