I have some puppies that are just shy of 8 wks old and discovered they have worms so i gave them a small amount of wormer liquid that i have on hand for my other dogs, does this stuff really work? The liquid is the "Carob" flavored kind by the "8 in 1" brand and they had no trouble taking it , but will this actually rid them of the roundworms?

Also , where did they get the worms from if they were kept in the house? It's about time to wean them anyway , but should i immediately stop them from feeding on mamma?

Yes, if it is the pyrantel pamoate wormer. The piperzine wormers are less effective, but pyrantel pamoate is the best choice for roundworms and hookworms.
It does not do tapeworms,or whipworms, which can be common in dogs also.

You always worm the mom and the puppies together!!! They get them from the mom. Even if the mother is well wormed before the breeding, she can have encapsulated larve in the muscle tissue and the hormones from pregnancy cause them to be released and into the milk they go. Most all puppies and kittens have roundworms. No big deal. Just worm them at least 2 times, but 4 times is the best and do mom and puppies together.

Pyrantel is very safe and it the ingredient in Strongid, which is what the vet hospitals use. There is no reason you cannot use it.
And it shows you care about the puppies and are not just letting them go to homes when you know they have worms.

Remember, if it is piprazine wormer and NOT pyrantel....do not use it. It does not work as well and they can have trouble with it. But if it is pyrantel, it is THE SAME as STRONGID...so ignore the people telling you to get Strongid!!!!!!!!

What you have is doubtless OTC *CRAP* & obviously DOES NOT work or the pups wouldn't have gotten worms from the dam! DUH!

Go to vet & buy STRONGID!!! Get enough to do ALL dogs! & follow directions!!!
