Time will tell.
The longer you are with them, the better you will be able to determine if they are telling the truth. And you will learn the verbal and non-verbal cues that will indicate if they are telling the truth.
While you want to give people the benefit of the doubt if they have earned that trust, you also don't want to trust too fast. If you are concerned whether someone is telling the truth, then slow down, step back and be patient. Don't make commitments or decisions until you slowly gain more information. Good luck.

body language/ if they tilt there head to left or the right there usually telling a fib, or lie
