It's an old fifties term for flatulence (farting).

It's a ceremony that is held in a small town by the name of Toulouse Le Trec which is just outside Nice, France. It's an annual event that
draws crowds numbering in the hundreds of thousands.
The cheese of the region which is known as L' Etfanois is sold in large round discs. The first cheese of the season is cut by the town's Mayor and right after the cheese is cut, the great throngs disappear very quickly only to return the next season.
